MANIFESTO / PETITION
We, the concerned members of the community and various social-civic organizations, guided by community welfare, general well-being, adherence to the noble mission and vision of our elders, respect for their legacy, and the original Constitution and By-laws of the Filipino Community of Seattle, Incorporated (FCSI), aMEMBERSHIPsocial and civic organization established by Filipino pioneers in the City of Seattle in 1935, hereby formally sign our names and submit to the PRESIDENT, VICE PRESIDENT, officials, advisers and policy makers this URGENT DEMAND to act immediately on the following:
1.Re-instate amended provisions of the FCS By-laws to its original state so that the General Membership can engage in a fair election of officers as has been a time-honored TRADITION that our pioneers had established in 1935.
2. Create a Committee on Election (COMELEC) to conduct a credible, transparent community election as soon as possible! Preferably within ONE MONTH and a HALF after this Petition is submitted.
3. Schedule an officially moderated meeting with local organization leaders and community advocates for an open nomination of candidates, to openly address candidates’ platforms and to discuss the issue of FCS election.
Failure to act on the above within a period of one month from submission Oct 18, 2014 of this document will mean that the signatories below, being community members, will jointly pursue necessary alternatives to include picketing of the FCC premises, boycott all scheduled FCS events and services, launch a NO DONATION DRIVE, notify FCS funders and donors, and file legal action to force FCS officials to immediately form an ELECTION COMMITTEE that will set rules and schedule an OPEN ELECTION.
