August 21, 2009 Isaac Malbrough Assistant Director of Transportation Fort Bend ISD 16431 Lexington Blvd Sugar Land, Texas 77479 Subject: FBISD Bus Service to Commonwealth Elementatry(CWE) for BRAZOS LANDING residents Dear Mr. Malbrough, We live in the BRAZOS LANDING Subdivision in Sugar Land. My son is a 1st grader at CWE. Last School year 2008, when Andrew started KG at CWE, we had inquired about the FBISD Paid Bus Service. The Paid Bus service in 2008 only extended to AVALON with the last stop at Cameray Pass and Monarch Drive . This was not fair to us residents of BRAZOS LANDING, but the Supervisor at the Lake Olympia Bus Terminal was not willing to extend the route to our Subdivision. Andrew agreed to the seven minute walk to the bus stop and we parents enjoyed the convenience of bus service. This year FBISD has discontinued the bus service on our route and is only offering it to residents of COMMONWEALTH and neighboring subdivisions on Route 235. Many of the people in these subdivisions who are using the bus service are within 1.5 miles of the school as compared to us BRAZOS LANDING residents who are at 1.83 miles from CWE. I have had several conversations with one of the supervisors named Sandra Harris from the Lake Olympia Bus Terminal and have been unsuccessful in getting a satisfactory explanation on your Bus Route Planning process. We would like to request better visibility and accountability in the FBISD Paid Bus Route Planning process. Several of our Subdivision residents have signed this petition and share the same concern that some neighborhoods like COMMONWEALTH are given a preference when it comes to bus facilities and the needs of newer Subdivision like BRAZOS LANDING are not being met. I would like to bring it to the notice of your Transportation Department and the FBISD Board, that we residents of BRAZOS LANDING pay the same FBISD Taxes. We have supported FBISD in its 2007 Bond Referendum where $11.2 Million was allocated to School Buses and $178,485 was allocated to Transportation Support Buildings including the Lake Olympia Bus Terminal. We would like to request Paid Bus Service be extended to our Subdivision immediately and would like a response from your department within the next week. Sincerely, Alfred Sobrinho CC: Timothy R. My daughter is at CWE and we cant keep relying on carpool lines every day. It makes no sense to cut off our neighborhood when we are clearly further than the others. Please fix this route.

Seriously? 1.83 miles is way too far for kids to walk especially when the weather is bad. FBISD needs to get their act together and stop picking and choosing favorites.

Unfair policy. We pay taxes just like everyone else. Give our kids a bus stop.
