His pay rise is more than I earn in a year, bearing in mind the OU say that can only afford a 1% pay increase its disgusting giving him so much

OU employees are regularly told by the Executive that we're doing a great job, and our successes are published broadly; wouldn’t the praise carry more clout if our salaries were a fair reflection of the value we’re so often told that we add.

It's no wonder that morale in the University is at an all time low.

Although I appreciate the need for the OU to keep its costs under control it should also be taken into consideration that living costs have gone up greatly recently

A recent government report purported that 90% of workers have been given an inflation-beating pay rise this year. Apparently this excludes university staff on the ground, who - as aknowledged by management - are doing a much more difficult job while responding effectively to often incredibly disruptive changes from inside and outside the organisation, all the while being paid less money while the HE sector as a whole fills its coffers. This says to staff on the ground 'you are not valued.'

It's just not fair. We should all get the same percentage increase.

Where is our 11%?! We are all contributing to the University and we all know there is money available especially when we see the expenditure in our department including extremely high paid contractors.

Some of us who hold up the pyramid that is the OU are struggling to survive on £20,000 and you have the gall to accept this huge payrise.Get down from your ivory tower and find out how the majority of us love.

Fairness is a fundamental aspect of our work with students, I fee that we should be treated the same way and the contributions we make should be recognized.

We all work together at the OU for the good of the students so it is only fair to have an above inflation pay rise across the board.
