I presume that the VC's pay rise will be justified in the same manner that the banks seek to justify the remuneration of their top 'assets'. Good staff will not come into (nor stay in) academia if the rewards are neither fair nor sufficient.

If we're all in it together, then that should be reflected in pay too

I object to some staff being paid 11% whilst lower grades are kept to 1%.

Please acknowledge the vital contributions made by all staff, ALs, support and admin, to the Open University by awarding an above inflation pay rise to all.

The most successful societies are those with the smallest pay differentials. We have been heading the wrong way for the past three decades.s

Contribution of part-time staff should be rewarded pro-rats with full-time. Unfortunately, this is becoming rare in universities generally. Given its origins and charter, OU should be leading the way with regard to fairness.

In total agreement with the statement.

Unfortunately loyalty and front line service do not command the same price as self aggrandisement and political expediency.

we have gone through an extremely difficult year and it would be good to get some financial reward in recognition. I also believe that if a few chose memebers of staff are offered an 11% pay increase, we are not due more than 1%

We are the people who speak to the students persuading them through the door and yet we are not the one to get the rewards

I think all staff at the Open University should be recognised for all their hard work, dedication and commitment to the Open University, especially in today’s climate, therefore, a fair pay rise for all members of staff should be forthcoming!!

The whole point of pervcentage payrises are they should be across the board as 1% of £100k is a darn site more than 1% of £20k, but it is seen to be fair.... how can 1% versus 11% ever be seen as fair and is the OU aware how many of their staff are struggling in the current financial climate, having to resort to Food Banks and family charity(ies) to get by?

None of your critics has publicly written anything this worthwhile. Well done to you.

I just hope that Martin Bean did get a 1% payrise and it all has just been a typo.

Sorry, but this petition is very badly written. Full of simple (childlike) errors. I cannot sign something which insults the intelligence of the average reader.
