The Open University benefits from a huge amount of goodwill among its staff. Their dedication and willingness to adapt should be rewarded.

If an 11% pay rise was necessary to acknowledge the Vice Chancellor's accomplishments, a pay rise of more than 1% must surely be necessary to acknowledge the accomplishments of everyone else in this hardworking but extremely demoralised organisation.

Everyone, but especially the people near the bottom of the pay scale who do a lot of the work that makes the university function are hurting, it's time to reward them for keeping the university going.

pay rises have not kept pace with inflation, so staff are getting a pay cut for their hard work.

Many of the organisational and policy changes things are causing alarm and despair in many sections of the University. Morale is low. Give us some encouragement and a slice of the ame cake that they are happy to be eating on the 'top tabe'

The goodwill has evaporated. Time to start working only the hours we're paid for.

It is immensely disappointing and highly de-motivating to hear that the University has decided to pay its highest earning employee an 11% increase but fails to recognise that we all have a part in the OU's success.

If the OU can afford a £400,000 VC, it can afford more than 1% for the rest of the staff.

Compared to inflation we've been having a year on year pay cut. But of course the bosses haven't.
Lets all hope we can get this sorted quickly and concentrate on what we do well Education
He should decline it and only accept 1% like we have been given... Absolute disgrace!

I don't expect 11% but something between 1% and 11% would be a better reflection on staff contributions to the OU
