This petition has been set up to support Family on Bikes and Davy and Daryl Vogel, who were 10 years of age when the journey began, in their claim as the youngest individuals to cycle the length of the Americas. Despite first establishing rules and regulations for the Vogels around the criteria for the record, The Guinness Book of World Records has now denied the boys' claim on the grounds of:
deciding "to no longer recognise the category as a record, due to the fact that the record would reach an age where a person would no longer be able to break it or attempt (i.e. a two year old attempting to do it) and as it would become limited under these terms, we choose to no longer recognise it as a category."
Tough pill to swallow after a 3+ year, 17,300-mile journey.
By signing your name and email to this petition you are asking Guinness to uphold the Vogel's claim and take ownership of the record that was promised at the outset of the boys' journey.
