No government should be justified in separating a father or mother from their child on the grounds of marital breakdown, unless there are specific reasons and sufficient evidence to support their decision.
As no reason has been supplied, there is a sense of bias in favour of their Japanese citizen, which is simply racism.
For a technologically advanced country their policies are well and truly outmoded and unacceptable.

I have known Max since he was 18 and always found him to be the nicest of people, always kind, polite and caring of others. He absolutely adores his daughter and it is the cruelest of situations that he is unable to be a father to her. I cannot now believe that the Japanese Government has seen fit to torture him further by putting him the position to deport him, for some uknown and undisclosed reason. The fact that he voluntarily pays child support for his daughter, seems to count for little. What will happen to his daughter now? This will tear him from his established family and support group of friends in the country he has made his home and life.
Japan needs to show compassion and be a country worthy of First World values.
