If a bar opens at a pub then churches must open too! Common sense appears to be lost with the Victorian government. Leaving this state seems to be the only answer right now!

Australia is a party to the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR), which further specifies the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion as first enunciated in the UDHR. Article 18 of the ICCPR is now the main international legal provision protecting freedom of religion or belief. It provides:
Everyone shall have the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion. This right shall include freedom to have or to adopt a religion or belief of his choice, and freedom, either individually or in community with others and in public or private, to manifest his religion or belief in worship, observance, practice and teaching.

Please consider the inequity and the total illogic of being able to eat in a restaurant with a group of 10 and 10 others all without masks while watt but unable to gather in a church with masks on and fully cleaning and distancing precautions.

If this is about unburdening the health Care system, I can think of no better way than to allow people access to their churches which give them the spiritual strength to endure. This is especially true for the elderly, who are statistically more religious. To deprive them indefinitely of the chance to worship is particularly cruel. Many elderly are frightened, they are losing heart, and their joy. Many of us who love someone of this age have noticed the change, and no doubt this deprivation is hastening death in a different way. At the bare minimum, the same logic must apply to churches and places of worship as to restaurants and cafes. People with religious convictions should not be treated as second class citizens, and their beliefs should not be belittled to the level of entertainment. Open our churches, please!

The ability to partake in public worship is an essential service for so many people, as it gives meaning and purpose to many people's lives, myself included. The opportunity to gather for public worship is important for our health and wellbeing as people of faith.
Divine law trumps all other law. God bless.
