A lesson in how to kill off a town.

It is highly unfair to expect people to pay for 5 hours of parking in such a small town. Most visits would be for an hour or two and prices should reflect this. This higher charge will only encourage shoppers and diners to visit larger towns where there are more shops to choose from. Hertford has lots of vacant shops as it is. Evening charges will also mean less visitors to Hertford's many restaurants and bars.

Why should we be made to pay for 5 hours parking when we only want to pay for an hour? This will make people less likely to come to town to pop to the shops. At the moment Hertford needs all the shoppers it can get. Less people will also be coming if they have to pay the evening change which would diminish Hertfordshire thriving night life.

East herts have already nearly closed Hertford to shoppers, now they are closing it to theatre and clubs users as well

Parking should be free

The parking is a nightmare, I really hate having to park my car outside somebody's house, I understand it must be frustrating for them too when they cannot even part outside their own house. I also have a van for work which is a double nightmare to park. Parking our vehicles shouldn't be stressful!!!

Hertford town has no parking for residents. It makes me sick to the stomach that residents in near by roads are granted a permit & I am not allowed one. I am sick of paying for car parks. Its totally unfair!

This could be the death knell for numerous Hertford activities in the evenings. The sop offered for daytime parking has no bearing on what happens in the evening - Hertford Theatre audiences would effectively have £1 added to all their ticket prices for instance.

I regularly come to hertford as it as my hometown, and personally I feel that with the ever increasing charges that we pay just to park our cars is already high enough. Let alone if we now have to pay to park our cars at night! I think it's outrageous as it will have a huge impact on the community with a decrease in visitors, nightlife, buisnesses, residents etc. The idea of having a council is to enforce our positives and enable us to move forward an attract visitors etc. not add negative factors such as this new parking charge at night.

Another example of how the council not putting the residents and local bussinesses first.

How are small businesses supposed to struggle out of this recession when local government continue to ignore the fact that our customers are being vastly over charged for parking and this is extending to evening.

If this is introduced, no doubt the Council will have to employ more Traffic Wardens on overtime rates to enforce the charge which will surely diminish the overall revenue from the exercise. The imposition of such evening charges is no doubt the brainchild of someone who does not use the Gascoyne Way car park in the evening and has no particular interest in the possible detrimental effect on the night time business activity in Hertford.

Hertford is a busy, thriving town in the evenings. Parking fees would be the death knell.

This would affect evening trade (bars, restaurants) within Hertford as it is a town that relys on visitors driving to the town for an evening out. Plenty of car sharing takes place and we cannot remove the option of enjoying an evening in hertfords Bars, restaurants to socialise.

totally support this petition. I live by Old Cross and I have no parking and I can't get the permit. This change will mean a massive financial impact.
