I agree FDW employers need more protection against errant helpers who can come to Singapore even after being sent back by various employers.

Helper should bear their own loan if they r giviNg attitudes n wanting to go back 1 wk into work. It's not fair for us employers to bear all n Wat more we will hv to pay the agent processing fees, new helper loan, medical, etc though agent claimed that it's free replacement.

Really unfair for employer to buy air tickets for maid who didn't finish contract! Government should control the maid agencies by setting rules to standardized agency fee & loan issues.

Yes, totally agree. There is a big group of employers like us who treated our FDW fairly but were being taken advantage of. When some FDW left they stole Jewelry, bags, shoes, clothes and anything that took to their fancy, we are the victims not them!

It's certainly an irony that employers were asked to pat the levy whereby MOM is obviously pro-FDW . Employers are always I'm the loosing end. It's time MOM start to be non-bias and listen to both sides. Singapore employers are generally very fair to our FDW.

Employers should be allowed to contact ex Singapore maids previous employers for our family's safety. We need to ensure that the maid we are about to hire is mentality sound and that she capable of performing tasks. References is one easy way to ensure our interest as employers is safe guarded.

Agents transfer maids without battling an eyelid. This culture or transferring maids should be stopped by MOM. There should be a cap say one transfer allowed only to cater for genuine cases of maid and employer misfit. Agents should handle the maids loan problem. Employers should not be left to bear the cost of the maid's loan should the maid decide that they want to go home after they had their "holiday" and their loan is still outstanding. For each transfer the employer will have to fork out more money for agent fees, insurance, work permit and maid's loan.

Hear from employers too not just FWDs. Fairness should be 2 ways not just 1 sided. Nothing is fair until you hear the other side of the story. No point stress on fairness when you don't even bother what employers are suffering from while FWDs are having their free trip down to Singapore, inclusive of free lodging and food. Employers are not only financially stress but also emotionally stress (which is the killer). Hope MoM take this matter into serious consideration and improve the welfare of your fellow Singaporeans or even expatriate employers here in SG.

The challenges faced by employers of FDWs in employing them are many at times overlooked and employers are not protected financially, mentally or even physically. There have been many regulations to protect the interest of the FDWs as they have been perceived to be the "weaker" group however the reality is times have changed and the FDWs of today are very different from yesterday's. There should also be a shift to also look into how the interest of the employers can be protected.

Who will protect employers? Seems agencies makes the most money. If govt wants to increase a higher basic minimum wages, please produce us a good quality FDW. Professional attitude and trained with positive attitude. Not keeps lying, stealing, find bangala, get pregnant, wear skimpy clothes, Facebook and selfie half naked in employers' room. Gosh!!!

Personally I do need government to hear us as employers too. I am sure the government knows that there are FDWs that are serious and genuine to work in Singapore and a substantial number are just here to 'see see look look'. I had one ex-FDW that told me this after working for 2 weeks, "Mum, I am only here to work for a year. I want to go back to get married." And there are times when language CAN be a barrier, given tasks CAN be too difficult, given instructions CAN be ignore, their history of medical issues CAN be undetected/ unreported and 'su ka, su ka' (as and when they feel like it) they can just say "I want to transfer"..... And I am sure you know the many issues we face. However who stands up for us, as employers?

i totally agreed with the writer regards to employer been treated unjustly by their FDW .Another thing it is also not fair for us to keep paying to their agents just for the sake of changing FDW which are some not an asset to our home but more of a burden instead.i hope with this movement...changes will student area
