Thanks for the tip. So happy those in York region are so smart and are impervious to the effects of this government imposed crapstorm.

How does deliberate government intervention factor into this? It shouldn't but it did. It screwed a lot of people over. Sorry I didn't know that attempting to invest made you greedy.

Lots of people here are saying that supply and demand dictates pricing. I agree. But when the government recklessly creates these laws, it is no longer free market. there are victims. I am one of those victims.

While I empathize with the situation it appears to me that all these buyers were driven by self interest greed and lust for grandeur that neither their jobs nor economic status could NEVER support. If you lived in your parents basement for 7 years saving...needed to refinance the mortgage on your previous home to meet the Mattamy deposit structure..or work at a job that clearly doesn't pay in excess of 75-80k a year..you DO NOT BELONG IN A MILLION DOLLAR HOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There are plenty of studios for you in DOWNTOWN TORONTO for 400k. Thank God those who live in York Region actually have the money to support their house prices

How can you expect Mattamy to meet you half way as they did in Whitby. These are million dollar homes here in Oakville. Bought by "sophisticated" buyers who are clearly lower middle class at best.

Most of the stories are second time wannabe home owners. These people are so greedy that they forgot that Canada operates on open macro economic system. Supply vs demand determines the price. You would be extremely happy if the market price for your pre construction home was keeping higher so you can make more profit but now when the table is turned, you are whining. Just swallow the reality and pay the price for being so greedy. You could have just stayed at your first home.

Mattamy should donate the extra profit they made from last year's higher prices to build a homeless shelter within the new development. Then if these folks lose their homes, they can go live there.

Come one would it be so hard as to try and work with these people and find a way so that they do not lose their shirt?

They should reduce the price and help the families who bought the home from them before the price drop. I hope government should do something about this but this government will do anything only for vote

You rich arrogant people. You have everything coming to you deserve. If you think you are going to get sympathy for your greed and house lust you are sadly mistaken. I hope that Mattamy takes every one of you to task and to the full extent of the contract and law. I will be emailing them to support them in that effort. Maybe you will think twice when rolling the dice for your futures on sticks and bricks. Good luck.

The future of my family is in serious mess as we stand to lose all our life savings plus walk into a huge mortgage which we will not be able to afford.

My son is in the hospital, me and my husband are toiling endlessly to make two ends meet and this terrible jolt due to the government policies has all but jeopardized our plans for a secure future for our children and a decent retirement for ourselves.

I have been impacted by the house market cooling measures... and builder's bullying behavior. Tarion has granted unfair advantage to the builder... the laws are one sided only to give advantage to the builder.
Looking forward for the same rights as the builder has... where the builder can delay upto 3 times due to circumstances... but the buyer doest have any single chance to delay even in the extreme circumstances.

I am victim of this too. Mattamy jacked up the price by 50 % from 2016 to 2017.
