Utilities are classified as regulated monopolies so they are supposed to play by a different set of rules than a typical business on the open market. The rules just need to be updated

I live in a condo since May last year and my bill would range from $70-&80 a month and now has been $160-$170 every month. I live alone and keep my thermostat at 70 degrees. There is no reason my bill should be that high.

My delivery fee is almost as much as the electrical supply charge. I have a shop and a house and I am charged delivery fees for both which amount to over $166 a month. The delivery charge for October was $58.65 which is more than double the new charge.

I am very concerned about pricing people out of their homes with utility increases alone. The increases look like price gauging consumers on the most basic needs: heat, power, hot water.

Called NWE and same BS and run around why bills so high. We also use a wood stove as primary heat source and our bills more than doubled!

There are some differences between the big utilities and the rural coop's. The government actually oversees and subsidizes the coop's power. Which allows them a lower rate. It goes back years ago to some rural development laws. So although we may never see as low a rate as the coop's, I still think big utilities should be kept fair and provide us with better rates like Idaho, S. Dakota, and Utah which provide Power statewide at almost 30% than the average Montana rates.

This "hike" was property taxes, which current law allows then to pass on 60% on to customers. They didn't need PSC approval. Which is what HB189 I fighting for.
