I live in Sheridan MT and had the same issue. I called NW Energy talked to Judy and the excuse I got was " I don't know we must have been short staffed."

Reading the meter digitally is considered an actual read. The whole twice a year is for someone in person to manually read. I believe they added this because since going digital and not having a tech on site every month, they were missing things (like repairs) that needed to be found in person.

Going from $250.00 per month to back to back $500.00+ and$600.00+
has devastated us. Thanks for the heads up and making food an "option" for the next few months. I guess I'll have to find the best deal on a case of Ramen.

i for paying what is owed as we go but if there is a meter read twice a year that gives money back or adjusts the real amount owed then i think i can support this, BUT i think customers should be able to record and have hard evidence of energy usage always. This allows us to conserve and to make changes towards energy conservation.

My usage almost doubled which make no sense when nothing has changed. Can't blame the "colder" weather because I mostly heat my house with wood. In addition, it has been colder in the past and my usage has never been as high as it was last month.

Bill has almost doubled for the first 2 months of 2017 compared to the last 2 months of 2016. Using North Western Energy and not happy about it.

I am so tired of outrageous rates from NWE and them always threatening the poor in the winter to shut off there power when they have children and babies cuz they can't afford there power bill. We live in a cold cold state and to have these kind of energy bills is insane. NWE would let us freeze they don't care as long as they get there money. It's so nit fair to us on disability and fixed incomes who Don't qualify for Lieap services to feel the fear all the time of our power being shut off. We need and deserve better power and heating sources in this state

This might seem to be harsh for the people out of power in ca but don't it seam a little off us in mt get our bills jacked up and then there trying to not only steal the spot light to make them look good and get the media on there side but us that have paid there bill and not pay other bills to keep power on are paying for there work in ca... just after our bill got out of control just a update to you all that Evan care i did call them back again to try to buy some time and lower the payments they are not going to like me if they shut my power off the local office said Quote i have to pay $183.70 + my normal monthly bill each month until its payed in full so my normal bill is $171.24 +$187.70= $358.94 each month and if i miss one payment they will shut me off in TWO months my bill is $655.20 DEC was $171 ish Nov was $170 ish what gives this if facts NWE this is not fair i pay what i can and even with proof you don't care who you hurt or put on streets i have 5 kids in my home with one elderly and one disabled child under the age of 10 you have all this info i have turned it all in every 6 months and this time it was not acpt. or as you said lost when i turned it in the front office... Montana i am not the only one that this has happend to..
