So the real reason for my doubled bill was price hikes and NOT the cold weather excuse I got over a period of three days and numerous calls.

The increase in our power bill for the month of January was huge and frankly unaffordable. Yes power usage was high due to cold weather, but we were gone for 10 days and the heat was reduced to a level that kept pipes from freezing. Not OK to have to choose between groceries and power..... And we are not low incomes

I have lived in three places in Montana: Kalispell, Helena, and now Dillon. Northwestern's rates have seemed high in each situation in comparison to friends/family in other states. That should not be so considering that our state has more energy access than most of the other states. In short; Northwestern has had too much of a monopoly for too long and they have gone too far this time. Communities should have more of a voice in the process of deciding who delivers their power so that it creates a more competitive market.

This is outrageous! We (Montanans) have a hard time as it is in winter with bills. There's no way that these bills are that high.

Billings is getting it to. We just paid our bill of $700.00 before Christmas and already its back to $655.00. There is no way were using that much energy. Our neighbor who was elderly got shut off during winter and guess what. An officer and my husband found him deceased in his home. This is ridiculous

No body can afford to pay on estimates.. because Northwestern employees make the $$$$$ to afford to pay there power bill, as for the rest of you the power company just keep on stealing from the customers and lie on how they come up with figures..
Think I'll go back to old school... wood stove outside plumbing gathering water fishing and hunting..
Not a happy customer!!!

this is a complete screw up on Northwesterns part and they need to fix it. Time to act like an adult and take responsibility for your screw up and refund the bills. I don't have any other bill that I pay stating "oh your bill is gonna be this for the month." If you say it's an estimated reading of what I owe then my payments will be an estimate of what I owe as well.
