2024 hike in our energy is horrible for this family of 6 , why is NW energy our only option

Fees are over half of the cost of my actual utilities

The fees and taxes on our electric bill are outrageous. They are over half our bill.

Northwestern Energy is operating as a Criminal Enterprise fleecing customers who have no other choice in who they have to purchase power from if they live in Montana. The State of Montana PSC is an accomplice in allowing the theft of the ratepayers to continue to take place. Estimated bills need to be outlawed. Allowing NWE to charge whatever they want to provide power to a property is also unjustified theft. PSC is an elected office , Vote out incumbents in bed with NWE. The ratepayers in Montana need at the minimum a class action lawsuit against NWE for inflated bills, estimated bills, and grossly overcharged for new service extension costs. I personally was fleeced $ 25,000 to obtain service to my property. I have been overcharged on my monthly bill for over a year. NWE doesn't read my meter just estimates based on what they think I will pay. All ratepayers need to read their meters and contest this ongoing theft.

I don’t see how it was even possible for my bill to get higher because of the “lower temps”. I live in an apartment with a big wall unit and it hasn’t been on since the cold hit. Layers, socks and double blankets. It’s been cold as all heck in my house for nothin apparently.

My NWE bills have been increasing each month over same periods previous year. Bills list actual consumption in units as increasing. And worse, instead of dropping with temperatures rising, starting in Feb. 2017 the rates have almost doubled each month through April compared to same months in 2016. And I am certain fewer units of energy are being consumed -- both in natural gas and electricity -- because I am simply not turning on or up energy-using devices. My current bill (May) is double the units of electricity and gas consumed the same period a year ago. I called NWE when a disconnect notice came, and agreed to a likely impossible payment arrangement.

It's unfair and they have a monopoly
