Given the level of work involved in social care practice, it as an absolute must that a pay scale be in place across all sectors of social care.

Definitely need to offer social care workers more !! The profession is not recognised as other professions get recognition . The job is harder then people realise and you have the likes of the Luas drivers striking for more pay,il like to see them walk a day in the life of a scw!!!! Also better care needs to be take For the workers, burn out is real and the horror stories some scw tell from units !!! Please help change this industry for the better of the clients and workers!

Qualification within three months versus a qualification within three years plus. Does that equal to same pay?

I.M.O. Pay discrepancies, lack of transparency for salary scales across the whole sector can destroy morale in the workplace. This anger at injustice is contagious and service users suffer. It needs to be clear and conscise to be fair.

Our job description cannot even be defined yet supermarket workers can make more money than us. The job titles in this area need to be reviewed big time the job we do is not care assistant - that's one of many roles we include in our work! So much wrong in the area of social care one of the rates of pay is for unqualified social care worker - if your not qualified your not a social care worker !

I genuinely can't come to understand how social care workers, who have been to college and earned bachelor degrees, can be paid so much less than every other health care professional with a similar level of education. Not only that, they are right in the line of fire when it comes to having a heavy, toughgoing caseload where physical violence, or threat thereof, from clients is a daily occurrence. Sadly, they have continued to be exploited and overlooked for many years as they represent a small hardworking population that tend to work on small teams, separated from each other making it more difficult for their voices to be heard - the power of the Internet and the huge surge of people to stand up for what it right has meant that inequalities like this have nowhere to hide anymore! This issue is going to have to be put right!

Social Care Workers have spent 4 years training and are continually developing their skills. The rate of pay should take their knowledge gained into consideration. As there are Social care jobs that pay the same as jobs where no qualification is needed.

Sick of the poor treatment of social care workers throughout this country. We all started our careers in the hope of being at a standard of pay equal to the work we do. Being registered the same as doctors, nurses etc and have the societal recognition as the same above. Instead we face a different path at present in terms of name changes such as care assistant, care worker and many more so employers don't have to recognise our qualifications or even years experience. It's a hard job no matter what sector your in social care. But so far to date I've met some of the best workers around but never receive the recognition they deserve. The government need to change this asap as teachers, nurses, Garda, and even luas drivers are standing up against the poor pay and conditions. We need to do the same
