It's also important to recognize that many of our younger NTTF are a part of the student debt crisis and not only are trying to survive in a costly community but are doing so while struggling to make their student loan payments. This is how we kill a profession as we begin to lose our talented instructors to careers that will truly compensate them for their skills.

Instructors deserve a living wage otherwise the university will lose great instructors to universities that will pay them. I have heard many talking about trying to get jobs at CU-Boulder since their increase. As for myself, I cannot support myself and my family on my income alone. After taxes, health premiums, retirement, and my cost of parking my monthly check is around $2300. Now subtract my rent of $1550 and I'm left with only $750 to pay the rest of my bills like utilities, cellphone, etc. along with supporting my family. I have to work 2 additional jobs throughout the year to make ends meet. I love teaching and I love my students but I cannot see myself lasting much longer at this rate without burning out. Something needs to be done- with the high rent in Fort Collins these are poverty wages.

Isn't CSU supposed to be an institution of higher education? Doesn't that mean that that education is the priority? If so, then pay instructors a livable wage, so we can keep our instructors teaching.

Perhaps if we had less administrators, less assistant vice presidents, assistants TO vice presidents, and assistants to the assistants to the vice presidents, we could afford to pay the people who actually teach our students a living wage.

Teachers are one of our most valuable resources.

Without these instructors, it would not be possible to hold several classes. CSU should support all of its faculty by keeping wages commensurate with the cost of living in Fort Collins.

After the administration saw this petition, they have decided to accelerate the process of raising our salaries 10% (thank you, Dan!), but only if you get promoted, which can take years for most of us. So now our situation is: we still must teach 4 classes (100% of our time) plus a minimum of 5% for service (for free) and also be part of two new committees (evaluation and promotion), also for free or for a small compensation. So, what are you doing for us? Not much! Our situation is actually worse. Most of us will be working more for the same money. Raise our base salary 30% for all of us (not just a few) and then you can give us a 10% raise in case of promotion. We do not need new hats, we need a decent salary to be able to survive in this expensive city. We hope that our new president, Joyce McConnell, who is known for promoting gender equality and fair pay (most of NTTs are women), advocates for us and put this issue at the top of her agenda.

Non-tenure track faculty contribute substantially to CSU and should be paid enough to live in the city where they work.

I fully support this effort to raise the standards for faculty at CSU, particularly for NTT faculty.

ALL STAFF and faculty need to be paid a living wage.

Our professors deserve a living wage! Have you tried sitting in a room full of Freshman... or much more, trying to get them to learn?

In an average year, I teach about 700 students and supervise 5 to 7 TAs. Factoring in the cost of credit hours, I figure I am responsible for bringing in about $500,000 for the University per year. Yet I don't see even 10 percent of that. This needs to change. Many of us have been at CSU for 10 years or more and we are getting very tired of being exploited in this way.

it is imperative that our teachers be paid enough to live in Fort Collins.

This should be across the board

I think all salaries for all employees should better reflect the cost of living in our community.

I have been waiting for this, I'am a recent MFA Graduate(2016) and have been teaching as an Instructor of record since 2014. Averaging 2-4 classes a year. My pay started at ~$4500 per 3 credit course which is now up to $5,000 per course. Speaking solely from an artist perspective I have always felt shorted on pay. Our 3 Credit studio courses run unlike most others, a normal 3 Credit course is 3 hours of instruction per week. Our studio 3 credit courses run for 6 hours per week, double the time commitment for roughly the same pay or less than other depts and courses, etc... I sure other lab run courses are similar but a reevaluation of wage per credit hour compared to actually teaching hours should be looked at. Over the last few years I have had to have 3-4 jobs to barely make due financially. Between commuting from CSU to FRCC to DU to teach i have been drained of time, benifits, and energy that could be better spent researching within my field and refining my students experience of my courses. CSU get your head out of your A##, be a National example of setting things right in the field of higher education.

All the professors I have had at CSU are incredibly dedicated to their students as well as their research and should be compensated appropriately.

We can do better than this to support our Ram family!
