I learned so much about his personal life and the kind of person he is which would not appear in his curriculum vitae. I think it would help his case a lot if you can write to the Papal Nuncio the things that you posted on this website. Although I’m disappointed that the “Friends of Duffy” deleted it, I can understand how that STRICTLY CONFIDENTIAL info can damage our Faith. I admire them for their fairness in their fight for justice for Fr. Duffy. I also urge you to write to the Papal Nuncio about the things you shared on this website. I hope the priests/bishops who showed mercy to the erring priests WILL BE FAIR ENOUGH to give JUSTICE to Fr. Duffy. GERRY ROCHE, I also urge you to write to the Papal Nuncio. Time is of the essence. Although in this case, your FAILURE to ACT SOON doesn’t constitute a breach of contract as there’s no agreement of any kind; but IT MAY BE TOO LATE to BE of ANY HELP to Fr. Duffy.

If you are really Gerry Roche (we're not sure because anyone could have used your name), would you please write to the Papal Nuncio or e-mail him at [email protected] about Fr. Duffy, the way you praised him in your comments on this petition. If you are comfortable writing or e-mailing Cardinal Collins, we also urge you to do it. But our only concern is the Cardinal may not receive it at all as his mail could be being screened and his e-mail filtered. One way or the other, could you please let the Friends of Duffy know what you've decided to do. Thank you very much for your time.

I have known Fr. John for over 30 years. He is a caring and honest man. I have read many of the beautiful comments posted on this site and I concur with them all! Fr. John has made a difference in the lives of many people and this will never be forgotten. Fr. John is not your typical Priest, no offense to the other great Priests I know! He is a real original! Even back in his U of T days he was never afraid to stand up for his faith. He was polite, articulate and vocal, never afraid to debate! He was active in the Prolife movement from day one at school and was often ridiculed by his professors and fellow students who considered him conservative and old fashioned. I know the obstacles that the Duffy kids have had to overcome growing up. I know them and love them all. His road to the Priesthood was not easy. Jesus was at his side! Back in school John worked full time as a security guard, wrapping Christmas presents at Eaton's, as room service waiter and even helped out with the KofC bingo to make money for school. I know at work he would sneak over to St. Basil's or St. Michael's church to attend Mass at noon much to the annoyance of his bosses who would wonder where he was! He had no financial or emotional support at all from his parents, the Church was his only support! He sometimes wore his security uniform to class at St. Mike's U of T. Most of us really respected him because of his determination. He never complained and was usually the most generous with his money. At the seminary John was legendary! His discussions with faculty were feisty. He always defended Traditional Church teachings much to the annoyance of liberal and progressive thinkers. Discussions in class could get heated. I have heard that he was the unofficial security guard of St. Augustine's Seminary. I am sure that everyone would have a great John Duffy story to tell if you asked any of his contemporaries! Fr. John you have befriended so many of the youth and young adults. Your leadership and spiritual direction to so many of us while under you at St. Pat's in Markham has stayed with so many of us. You have always been a beautiful and reverent witness to your parishoners of what true faith in God looks like. My thoughts and prayers for you and the Church of our time are sincere. My Christ's own Mother and ours be your comfort and protection.

I worked with Fr. John when he was pastor at St. Thomas More Parish and I was principal at St. Thomas More School. I can not think of a more caring and giving priest when it came to the spiritual needs of the students, their families, and the staff. Fr. John was always there for our Catholic school community.

Re..Catholic Anonoymous....why isn't anyone ever held accountable for these perverted crimes committed against unsuspecting young men? Where are the Bishops? Cardinal?

Are these priests product of St. Augustine Seminary? How many faithful, holy priests do we have post Vatican II and how many pedophiles are there even within the walls of the Archdiocese Seminary? Please..... Let justice prevail for the love of God.

I feel for this man. My last year of teaching for the Catholic Board was similar, but I did not lose my job. Sometimes the people who are truly good are tested the most. I hope that there is a fair resolution to this issue so Father Duffy may have the justice and peace that he deserves. Once again, the Catholic Church disappoints me.

We have been parishioners only 1 year but have found Fr. John Duffy to be a truly remarkable priest.

Card. Thomas Collins, what are you doing to our Holy Priests? Ask God for courage to stand behind your holy priests and defend them like a true catholic. You may be a Cardinal by title but you are a priest first. Judge with your heart not with the minds of the wicked. Fr. Father Duffy's uncompromising service, love and faith of the Church and its teachings including on sex-ed and morality are and were inspiring. I was stunned as a visitor to his parish at his faithful preaching last year on the Bill13 and sex-ed issue. I complimented him after mass for his refreshing and frank preaching on the subject. I only half-jokingly said to him privately after mass that he better watch his back with the politically correct diocesan buracracy. Not surprisingly, if his truth and candor that Sunday, was indicative of his regular style, the knives apparently were already out at the "downtown mafia". Not surprisingly, like me and my family (long story), the "corporation" and its lawyers were already revving the engines on the bus they were preparing to throw him under. I too have worked with Fr. Duffy through our education system. I have seen him interact with the children, how he talked with them, how he taught them. Fr. John is a loving compassionate priest and a hard selfless worker. He most certainly deserves far better treatment and consideration from the church he has served devotedly all his priestly life.

I have known John Duffy for more than 30 years. He is a great friend of Jesus Christ and all of the faithful. He is stalwart, kind, faithful & true. His word is his bond. He will give you the shirt off of his back, literally. One day many years ago I had a problem meeting my rent agreement & John supplied the necessary funds. He was always there for me. He also knows the word of God inside & out. He is the 'go to guy' for anyone in need of scriptural healing & inspiration. I only wish that all of you reading this could have a friend like him. To "ANONYMOUS without LOCATION", this website is in support of a priest whose PRIESTHOOD, FUTURE, and LIFE are HANGING in the BALANCE. He is not running for public office so DON’T SMEAR HIS GOOD NAME. Now, unless you post your real name with your HOME ADDRESS, we ask the “Friends of Duffy” to delete your negative comments. Other people who signed anonymously did not take the trouble of deleting their location. Besides, their comments were positive, not negative. They probably just want to VOICE their SUPPORT for Fr. Duffy but are afraid to reveal their identity especially if they work for the Archdiocese.
