I urge all faithful parishioners from Sacred Heart in Uxbridge and other Parishes to do likewise until the Archdiocese of Toronto recognizes their error in bad judgment and rectifies this situation. Father John Duffy's "down to Earth" personal style has earned him death by a thousand nit-picks. It's been sickening to witness. Consider the state of the Parish buildings Now vs. Before. Recall the compassionate and gentle care he gave last time you needed spiritual rescue. Do corny jokes and flowered board shorts really trump all that? My friend has been judged the scapegoat by the hiss and ripple of self-righteous and petty malcontent stirred over morning coffee by a tyrannical micro-minority.

What can the individual contribute to the common good?
Working for the common good means assuming responsibility for others.
The common good must be the business of everyone. This happens first of all when men get involved in their particular surroundingsfamily, neighborhood, workplaceand take responsibility. It is important also to exercise social and political responsibility. Someone who assumes this sort of responsibility, however, wields power and is always in danger of misusing that power. Therefore, everyone in a position of responsibility is called upon to engage in an ongoing process of conversion, so that he can exercise that responsibility for others in lasting justice and charity.
How does social justice come about in a society?
Social justice comes about where the inalienable dignity of every person is respected and the resulting rights are safeguarded and championed without reservation. Among these is also the right to active participation in the political, economic, and cultural life of the society.
The basis of all justice is respect for the inalienable dignity of the human person, "whose defense and promotion have been entrusted to us by the Creator, and to whom the men and women at every moment of history are strictly and responsibly in debt" (Pope John Paul II, Encyclical Sollicitudo rei socialis, published 1987). Human rights are an immediate consequence of human dignity, and no State can abolish or change them. States and authorities that trample these rights underfoot are unjust regimes and lose their authority. A society is not perfected by laws, however, but rather by love of neighbor, which makes it possible for everyone to "look upon his neighbor (without any exception) as another self ' " (GS 27, 1). I would like to give my support to help Father John Duffy by signing this petition , along side my daughter Shayln Nicholl, who adored Father Duffy as she enjoyed his preaching and his enduring personality, at St Joseph Catholic School in Uxbridge.
Lets all hope and pray, by all signing this petition that Father Duffy will find his resolution and that justice will prevail

Father Duffy has been close with our family since he joined our parish. He's been an amazing influence on our parish community - since he's been there I haven't seen attendance as high. He truly is a kind and generous man and I hope justice prevails in his case!

Father John is a good man, and regardless of anything being said of him, ALL people should be given a fair trial if they are being accused of wrongdoing.

The treatment Fr. Duffy received from the Archdiocese is appalling. We are all sad and confused. Hoping and praying he will be vindicated. Fr. Duffy is a terrific priest.

I met this man the first day of school at Brebeuf, back in September of 1973. Years later, he was an associate pastor at St. Patrick's. For far too short a time.

“A single witness shall not suffice against a person for any crime or for any wrong in connection with any offense that he has committed. Only on the evidence of two witnesses or of three witnesses shall a charge be established.
Clearly the archdiocese needs to go back and re-read the scriptures...
