Father John Duffy has been a remarkable pastor at Sacred Heart Parish and it's unbelievable that the Archdiocese has suspended him. In a time when priests are few and Father Duffy is exceptional, how could this have ever happened? What I look for in a priest who will take care of my needs are the following: spirituality, sincerity, rapport with the parishioners,
dedication to the schools and our young ones, trust that I can talk about matters that sometimes make me uncomfortable. I have always felt very comfortable talking to him when I am concerned about something in my own life. I especially felt comfortable confessing my sins to him not in a confessional, but face to face in his study. The Archdiocese has to realize the severity of what it has done this priest, must not play the part of God in such an important issue as this. Unfortunately, many Catholics may leave the Church because of this. Where does the Archdiocese think God is in this terrible tragedy?

We knew Fr. Duffy while he served at St Boniface and St. Thomas More. Our experience of his was to be a faithful priest who loves the Church and the priesthood. We are praying that truth and justice will prevail.

There is a need for transparency. We should no longer be lead around by the nose. If, for no other reason, should this end with financial implications, the Arch diocese will look to us to bail them out. This needs to be justly resolved NOW!!!

Fr. Duffy is a good priest and a good man. I respect him highly. I hope the Pope will look after him as he had looked after strangers. Fr Duffy is not a stranger to him. He should fight for his own priest.

I knew Fr. Duffy from his time at St. Thomas More in Scarborough. He was so animated, engaged and caring when delivering his message during mass. I never met another priest that didn't make mass boring. He made me want to go back to every Sunday to learn more. I'm shock to hear about these news, I just happened to Google him cause I was interested in attending another one of his masses and maybe go back to church again if he was still kicking around. My mom is still a parishioner at St. Thomas and I just informed her of this and she said that the parishioners at St. Thomas Moore were informed that he retired and can't believe these news cause she was told otherwise. This is really disappointing news and so devastating for Fr. Duffy. Supporting and leading his church community was his life, how can he be dismissed this way? I am not aware of the other side of the story but unless there was actual wrong doing done on the part of Fr. Duffy, he doesn't deserve this. Fr. Duffy, know that my family and I have deep respect for you and missed you from the day you said your goodbyes to us, since then become a Buddhist, however, you have left a strong impression on me (hence why I Googled you) and I hope that this gets sorted out asap so you can regain your honour and dignity as a person and leader of your community.

This certainly sounds like a witch hunt to me, I will certainly support Fr. Duffy in his quest for justice to be done.

I do not know Fr. Duffy. Whether guilty or not, Fr. Duffy deserves a fair hearing. Justice, with whatever the outcome may bring, has not been served by the Archdiocese. I support Fr. Duffy in his quest for justice. God bless Fr. Duffy.

Father John Duffy has been a wonderful priest here at our Sacred Heart Parish in Uxbridge. His love of Jesus and his faithfulness to God are evident in all that he does.. He has worked hard to build a strong sense of community at Sacred Heart and offers a genuine warmth to everyone he meets. He has spoken to and supported our children by visiting the school and by speaking to them directly in his Sunday sermons in ways that make them feel like they belong and are important members of the parish. He has made a great effort to get to know and share his faith with my husband, a non-practicing Anglican, and for this generosity of spirit I will always be grateful. He has opened his door to take my confession and share his wisdom and guidance on the spur of the moment whenever I needed him... never mind the posted hours of confession. I pray that Father John will be supported by us, his friends, as he works to resolve this challenging situation. I pray that Father John will be able to continue to serve God as a Catholic Priest in the years to come and to help many more in the way he has helped my family and so many others.

Father John is one of the best priests I've ever met, he is always kind and loving to everyone he meets, and makes church even better by his outgoing personality, he is an extremely kind man! He truly expresses how god wants all of us to be happy and love one another.

My husband and I knew Father Duffy while we travelled on a pilgrimage to Russia. He was a down to earth, personable, true friend who said Mass for us selflessly.

This is truly scandalous!
I met Fr. Duffy when he was the CWL spiritual adviser for the Scarborough region.
What an orthodox priest!
So...I thought things were going to start to change in the archdiocese?
We can have a priest who decides to take a year off and go to teacher's college and everyone knows he will be leaving when he finishes his studies. They provided him with a year to get a career off the ground and they are surprised he leaves the priesthood??
What about the silence surrounding the Old Testament professor at St. Augustine's Seminary, "Don't call me Father" Gordon Davies???
He leaves the seminary right after the rector announces he is leaving.
Why are the liberal priests given SO little reprimanding and SO many "C"atholic priests given so much of it and so much grief?
