Dear Friends in Christ - I would like to thank all of my friends who have advocated for me through prayer and encouraging support. Please continue to pray for my special intentions as well as those of all of our Spiritual Fathers in our Roman Catholic Faith. Regarding "Anonymous", I know the identities of these souls. They need prayers, as well as honest reflection on the true meaning of Christ's Gospel. I did suffer from cerebral malaria during a Catholic Relief mission during the eruption of Mount Pinatubo, Philippines in 1991. A poor displaced lady begged me for "mefloquine" ( anti-malaria medication ) as her son was dying. I gave her my own prescription. I almost died four days later. I did not regret my decision to assist. And, no, I did not suffer brain damage as a result of this illness. The most grave of illnesses, though, is spiritual in nature - and is manifested through hatred, jaelousy and cruelty. May God bless you, "Anonymous", and I pray that you may join Christ in heaven one day.

TO the CARDINAL: Cardinal, please read the August 30 comment posted by "Barnibus Anonymous" who claims to have known Fr. Duffy for more than thirty years. I'm guessing he's one of your fellow clergy who has known Fr. Duffy even before he entered the seminary - as a student, seminarian, and as a priest. In my previous post to this (pls. see Oct. 13, item #4) I mentioned that in my opinion the fast-tracking of the clergy's rise to the hierarchical ladder is determined while they were still at the seminary because some of those in power/in authority also teach at the seminary. To me that's logical. Likewise, it was at the seminary that Fr. Duffy's future as a priest was predetermined to be destroyed by your predecessor's Circle of Clergy. Barnibus Anonymous wrote that "At the seminary John was legendary! His discussions with faculty were feisty. He always defended Traditional Church teachings much to the annoyance of liberal and progressive thinkers. Discussions in class could get heated." Fr. John is not your typical Priest, no offense to the other great Priests I know! He is a real original! Even back in his U of T days he was never afraid to stand up for his faith. He was polite, articulate and vocal, never afraid to debate! He was active in the Prolife movement from day one at school and was often ridiculed by his professors and fellow students who considered him conservative and old fashioned. Barnibus started describing Fr. Duffy as a caring and honest man and towards the end he wrote that Fr. John loves being a Priest and he would never knowingly hurt the Church. Those of us who know Fr. John would never back him into a corner!!! He can be fearless! Likewise, if I was ever in a jam he is one of the people that I would want at my side! You were not his Cardinal when he was ordained. He should have been the one groomed to rise in the hierarchy. He should have been sent to study Canon Law in Rome. There was one comment here that a priest sh

Mr. Anonymous, you are a perfect S... Stirrer. I have checked with British Medical Journal and American Medical Journal and have confirmed that Malaria does not have any long term affect on human neurological system. If any thing your brains need to be checked. That is the reason you are not giving your name.

To SAVE our CHURCH and to help a persecuted displaced Fr. Duffy are also my intentions, Cayetano Taruc, by MAKING the Cardinal SEE that: 1) Fr. Duffy HAS BEEN DENIED his Canonical Rights to a good reputation, right to due process of law, right to a witness, right to legal and corporate support, among other things. Where is the BALANCE of PASTORAL CARE and the JUST application of the Canon Law in Fr. Duffy's case? 2) there was MALICIOUS INTENT all along to destroy Fr. Duffy given that those in authority UNDER the Cardinal did not deal/handle properly the SILLY lies (as one parishioner described it in this website) spread by a couple or, at the most, four individuals in the parish. In the examination of conscience, we learn that to destroy a person's reputation is the same as killing that person. 3) although the Cardinal's PREDECESSOR is now gone, I believe that those who connived with him in forcing Fr. Duffy to undergo the STD test and go to the mental health institution or else he would be suspended are still in power/in authority. One or two may have retired but their circle is still very much ALIVE and in still in POWER. 4) there are parallels between Fr Duffy's lying ambitious friend and the Chancellor of SP in their "careers'" fast movement which I believe was predetermined while they were still at the seminary by the same circle of clergy who connived with the Cardinal's predecessor.

Hey, "Friends of Duffy"! Speaking of funds, I got an idea, you can easily raise funds out of Fr. Duffy's story IF at the end of this petition drive Father doesn't get a resolution to his satisfaction. Get Father's permission for you to approach a publisher or a movie producer to publish or portray HIS side of the story with an intro explaining the reason for publishing the book or producing the movie - i.e. to SAVE our Church and to raise funds for a persecuted displaced priest who had lost everything. Hollywood is very much interested in true-to-life-BASED stories; how much more if it is a real life-story? What has Father got to lose now that he'd been STRIPPED of his priesthood, his dignity, his good name, his home/parish, his financial credit, and most of all, his HONOR?

Anonymous, who were you referring to by "Chancellor"? I don't recall any Chancellor having been mentioned in any of the recent posts? Are you referring to the Chancellor of Spiritual Affairs and the Moderator of the Curia? The only way you would know that he is involved is if you have a copy of the Statements. Or perhaps you have inside information, or you are one of those spreading lies about Fr. Duffy. If I were you, I would verify the information you're getting. The bank can give you the accurate numbers as well as the financial statements under the new Chair of the Financial Committee. I'm guessing that they now have checks and balances. The report was that under Fr. Duffy's direction (with a lot of help from above), the restoration of the Parish was done with very limited funds; and that the parish was in a very healthy fiscal situation when Fr. Duffy left.

Now you are stating that the AD is lying and everything Fr. Duffy is stating is truth (picking and choosing which priest isn't lying as the Cardinal, Bishop & Chancellor are priests too ). You are speculating a lot here. What I know is that according to the parish financial statement at the time of his arrival to SH, the parish had over $100,00. For the past two years he ran the parish in the red. I will patiently wait and keep praying for Fr. Duffy to accept the help that has been offered.

After the husband and wife financial disaster team went to Fr. Duffy's regional(?) auxiliary bishop to complain that Fr. Duffy was running around the parish rectory in just his underwear while brandishing a samurai sword, the Cardinal asked to meet with Fr. Duffy. Father, initially thought that the meeting was about the financial irregularities he had discovered and was shocked to find out that the Cardinal wanted to discuss the samurai allegation instead. What does that tell you? That the FINANCIAL IRREGULARITIES was DOWNPLAYED, IF the bishop was told about it. If he was told only of the samurai allegation, did he investigate? DID he MEET with Fr. Duffy TO HEAR HIS SIDE? If he'd done that, he would have found out the motive of the couple for reporting such weird things. For failing to hear Fr. Duffy's side, the BISHOP is INCOMPETENT in handling such matters. Either that or HE or someone in his office, a very trusted assistant, has malicious intent. The Cardinal, after hearing Fr. Duffy's side of the story, used his good judgment and sided once again with him. Shortly after, the couple left the Sacred Heart Parish. End of the Sacred Heart parish story? No, it's just the beginning.

Anonymous, please read the comments carefully to help you develop some common sense. Of course, the defendants would deny any claim that would implicate them; that's the expected response. Otherwise, case is closed. Here's the thing. They can deny everything they want to deny but they cannot deny the fact that such LYING ambitious priest existed. They may make his files as a seminarian, and as a priest, even his completion of the Canon Law in Rome disappear, but they CANNOT ERASE him from the minds of the people. The can make Fr. Duffy's files at the mental health institution disappear or part of his files disappear which would only confirm that there has been no doubt that he is NOT insane. The Statement of Defence also denies Fr. Duffy's claim about the financial disaster involving the husband and wife team (where the husband was the Chair of the Finance Committee; and the wife, the parish secretary, was in-charge of counting the weekly collections). How convenient was that - where was the CHECKS and BALANCES?

When reading the documents, you have to keep in mind that the AD clearly stated that they deny most of Fr. Duffy's claims. Also, you have to keep in mind that all this is hear say until proven otherwise.

Part II of Oct. 7 post: Needless to say, Fr. Duffy passed the psychiatric assessment with flying colors. The one who conducted the assessment told the then Director of Priest Personnel that he was tired of being used by the Archdiocese as a hired gun to get rid of priests that it considered "inconvenient"; and suggested that they investigate instead Fr. Duffy's priest-friend. When Cardinal Collins came to the Archdiocese, Fr. Duffy wrote him a long letter informing him of the abuse and injustice he suffered. Initially, Cardinal Collins showed compassion and sent Fr. Duffy on a sabbatical, fully paid for by the Archdiocese, to help him forget the trauma and abuse he'd been through. After four months, Fr. Duffy returned rejuvenated from his sabbatical in Israel. My question to the Cardinal is this: What did Fr. Duffy DO and/or DIDN'T do that made you abandon him when he needed your help MOST at the Sacred Heart Parish? Were you convinced otherwise by your Advisers who, to me, are sugar-coating their vested interest to make it look like they're protecting your administration from a good priest who is not afraid to voice his convictions. I believe that YOU have a GOOD HEART, Cardinal; just ILL-ADVISED. Please look into Fr. Duffy's case again praying to the Holy Spirit to open your mind and to be in your heart. Don't mar your bright future by abandoning Fr. Duffy.

System limitation requires that I break my long comment into two parts. Part I In fairness to Cardinal Collins, it was his predecessor who ordered Fr. Duffy to go to the mental health institution for tests, observation, and evaluation. His going to the mental health institution and taking the STD test like syphillis, prior to, were just to determine the sources of his ALLEGED mental illness. Which means that Fr. Duffy WAS ALREADY DEEMED INSANE even before the tests and assessment were done. The psychiatric assessment was merely to DETERMINE the SOURCES of his ALLEGED mental illness. This, of course, and all of Fr. Duffy's allegations are being denied in the Statement of Defence. That's what breaks my heart! I couldn't believe that what I see on TV is actually happening in our Church - it is sooooo DISTURBING! Despite the hundreds of glowing testimonies about Fr. Duffy, I kept silent until I obtained my copy of the Statement of Claim and Statement of Defence. My initial reaction after reading them was "I'm ashamed to be a Catholic!". I may not be proud to be a Catholic anymore but it doesn't mean that I will join another denomination because what's happening in our Archdiocese can happen anywhere - Satan can easily entice the ambitious and power-hungry clergy or those with twisted desires.

It seems this post is used for a different purpose. The Family of Faith program has ignited our parish. It has gathered our parishioners together and we are using the talents our good and just Lord gave us.

In view of NOLI's post, the Archdiocese does not need our help. Our persecuted priests do - especially the latest persecuted, Fr. John Duffy. Consider cancelling your pledge to Family of Faith through [email protected], and support Fr. Duffy instead. I'm even not contributing to weekly collections where the Archdiocese gets 10%, instead my contribution goes to Buiding Maintenance and/or Special Projects of my Parish. This way, 100% of my donation all go to my poor Parish.

The Archdiocese is raising $3 million for refugees from the same country that persecutes Christians. It is also raising more than $100 million for 'Family of Faith', in order to fund functions that is already being done... or should already be done. How much goes to a faithful persecuted priest?
