Fair funding for the Vale

We, the people of the Vale, deserve as much as the people of Cardiff. The welsh government should recognise this and not ignore it. Otherwise what use is the whole Assembly deal other than to put money in certain persons pockets... ?

This obvious disparity needs urgent action to divide the available funds more equably.

barry is the largest town in walesi dont think it gets a fair crack of the whip as far as funding is concerned for the regeneration of the town as a whole.

the Vale of Glamorgan comprises comprises of many communies, some affluent but many more are not so fortunate. the Vales has been underfunded for too long, and the most vulnerable are suffering as a result

Why should funding be any different from one district to another? It should make no difference at all and is caused by people who say our interests are of concern to them.Nonsense, they are just juggling the books. Do not short change us, give us what we pay for or, with elections pending, we shall kick your arses.

You've said it all yourself. Lets have fair equity and stop the decline of the Vale's environs.

It is unfair the Vale of Glamorgan receive less funding than Cardiff or Bridgend.

It is absolutely dreadful that the Vale receives so little funding compared to other councils.

There should be a farer method of distributing funds to the various county councils in Wales.

This is awful. The vale if the largest growing area in Barry and sorely needs funding.

Totally support this petition which is a sore that has been festering since 1995. The Vale has consistently lost out not only in terms of the budget settlement from the Welsh Assembly Government but also in terms of the additional funding which which is provided to those areas that are already benefiting from higher funding. Take for example the latest educational funding initiative - Schools Challenge Cymru which will see £20m handed out to underperforming schools. It's probably safe to assume that very little of this money will find it's way to schools in the Vale! Such initiatives are in effect a double whammy for the Vale. We lose out every which way!

The Vale of Glamorgan receives one of the lowest levels of funding from the Welsh Government. The Vale receives £202 less per person than Cardiff, £226 less than Bridgend and £409 less than Rhondda Cynon Taff. The needs of each Authority differ and it would be unfair to call for the same level of spend as RCT. However, Cardiff and Bridgend are better comparators, with Cardiff being one of the most prosperous parts of the UK. In 2011/12 the difference with Cardiff was £126 and in 2010/11 it was £73. If we received the same funding per person as Cardiff, the Vale would gain an additional £25.6M to spend this year alone. This money could finance one and a half new secondary schools – every year. Imagine the type of regeneration that could be supported in our towns and villages

We are charged high rates but have no investment whatsoever from the Vale Council. It is hardly surprising considering this unfair allocation of funds

A more equable distribution of funding should be sought as a matter of urgency. why has funding for the Vale fallen so steeply.? Why are we so disadvantaged in comparison to Bridgend and Cardiff.

There are huge regeneration needs in the Vale which can only be resolved by additional funding.

The low funding for the Vale of Glamorgan is absolutely disgusting.

People who live in the Vale are considered to be very well off and are not considered worthy of a fair slice of funding for anything.We should be on a par with Bridgend at least and will never see the rich future that having our own airport, with links to the rest of the world cab bring, unless we are taken seriously and allowed to grow strong.No infrastructure, no future. Lets stop living in the past and move on---NOW!
