My name is Chris Passanisi, and I meet all of the requirements to run for ASB President at Scripps Ranch High School, but a panel enforced by the administration and its counselors has decided to not let me run. The administration has implemented an extra step for ASB elections, giving them more power than the students in choosing our student representatives. Please read and sign to support a fair election: •There is no criteria presented on the ASB application on how this panel evaluates students, making it very unclear as to why students are not allowed to run. If this elimination process is going to be enforced, it needs to be transparent to all of the students. •The Associated Student Body is supposed to be run by the students and the representatives are supposed to be chosen by the students. An administrative panel that chooses candidates is taking away from the voice of the student body. •I meet all of the requirements listed on the application as well as the requirements of the San Diego Unified School District. •I have been in ASB for three years and I am completely qualified to run for ASB President. This panel should not be able to take away an opportunity to run, let alone judge that I would be an unsuccessful ASB President if elected, or to take away your opportunity to vote. Our representatives should be chosen by the students. I am asking you to sign this petition to allow an equal opportunity for all SRHS students to run for an ASB position. Thank you.
