A failure of democracy and fundamental freedoms on the Australian left: Open letter

Women should be punished or silenced for speaking the truth and defending their rights.

We must be able to talk about the ways that women matter and also the ways we are discriminated against, in the budgets that don’t benefit us, in the violence against women and children epidemic, in health outcomes. Also, we must strengthen our democracy not continually undermine it and overturn democratic outcomes. Votes are supposed to count.

People should not be bullied out of their roles, nor punished for stating scientific facts and/or wanting to discuss how changes to the rights of one group of people could impact the rights of others.

Reinstate please and have an open debate about including everyone’s rights, Blaze the trail and show the world how it can be done.

Women’s and girl’s sex based rights must be upheld and respected.

So many good people in the greens betrayed by this wanton disregard for the grassroots participatory democracy and social justice pillars. That elected representatives have acted with such disrespect for the party values and have not been held accountable further undermines green capacity to act in future. So disappointing.

I am outraged and disappointed by the Greens political behaviour.

Uphold democracy!

Stop cancelling people who have a different view. Humans can't change sex. Biological reality. Anna Kerr is doing important work. I hope you have thought of a good reason for all the irreversible harm happening to children on your watch. While people bringing it to your attention are hounded and sacked! We cannot allow this behaviour to continue. What has happened to Gale works against us all. Democracy and freedom of thought are at stake here.

No more votes for the Greens autocrats - EVER - from me, at either State or Federal level, until my human rights as a woman and a lesbian are respected. To misquote the song from Les Ms: "Can you hear the women sing?... We will NOT be slaves again!" Free, fair, and open discussion & debate, which values human rights equally!

Extremely important petition

Appalled. There are only two sexes - biology says & I agree. I am a lesbian, my second allegiance is with heterosexual women. LGBTI is a nonsense! We used to wear a badge saying “I am not gay, I am a lesbian but I’m festive”. Nw look what’s happen. The Greens ought to be ashamed of themselves.

Beyond disappointing. Purge.

In my view freedom to openly discuss all issues without fear of bullying, attempts to publicly humiliate or other abusive behaviour is paramount in any democratic process.

Women's rights are not up for debate

Democratic processes matter. Free speech matters.

I’m horrified that those such as the greens would shut down debate and would remove an elected official in a smear of disinformation.

The Greens were always the political face of science in relation to our environment. Yet they deny the foundational science of human reproduction - two sexes, female and male. 'Trans', and 'non-binary' people have not only the same rights (and responsibilities - they seem to forget this bit as members of civil society) as any other Australian citizen, in some instances their rights supersede ours. Women fought and some died or were harmed for live to give us safety, fairness and dignity through single sex rights and spaces, and the same for our daughters. #NoCompromise #KeepPrisonsSingleSex #StandingForWomen
