Resolution on Gaza - Faculty Misrepresentation by AFT2121

I do not feel that leadership should presume positions of faculty on issues that lie outside our campus.

I don't see this issue as one that is within the purview of AFT 2121. I also object to the fact that members were not consulted before the resolution passed.

AFT2121 shames itself an all its members with the pointless antagonism of the resolution and the blatant disregard for basic procedure at the meeting or in consulting with its membership. Embarrassing to all involved.

If AFT2121 would like to speak for us in the wider political arena, I think we should all know what's being said about it before that happens, and a majority of us should agree that it's representative.

I disagree with the resolution and I object to the closed rushed process. The path to a fair resolution of the Israeli Palestinian conflict is not by painting one side as all wrong and the other as all right. Passing a resolution which creates antagonism and division is not the path to unity and loyalty in the union. Don't expect it when you do this.

I do not support this resolution (it singles out this issue, while ignoring so many others) and I do not support how it came to be (undemocratic).

If AFT 2121 truly represents all its members, it must respect the process of representing those members. Passing a resolution with little or no sunshine to the entire membership is like our Union is only owned by a special faction. They make all the decisions with the assumption that rest of us must be the silent agreeing majority.

This is very upsetting. Union members must have a chance to weigh in on any kind of resolutions on behalf of our membership.

If everything that was mentioned is true. Shame on you AFT2121.

My signature here is unrelated to political beliefs. However, on principal, it does feel uncomfortable to put forth resolutions without seeking support from the CCSF faculty.

Passing a rushed resolution through without proper and advanced notification/approval of the union membership should not be allowed.

I am signing this in protest at the way this vote was taken. I did not have a voting representative at the meeting and, even if I did, we didn't have a chance to discuss this beforehand. There should have been more time allowed before the vote. Also, such a small group of voting members should not be allowed to represent all of the faculty of CCSF.

Union members must have a chance to weigh in on any important decision or resolution we wish to advance on behalf of our membership. This current resolution is invalid, and I’m very upset about the mishandling of procedure. Procedure must be followed in order to be fair to all members.

I am incredibly frustrated that the AFT 2121 leadership continues their divisive and ostracizing tactics. This is just another example of how they claim to speak for the membership without ever consulting us. Additionally, when we DO try to speak up, we are ostracized and accused of not supporting the union or it's goals. The union actively DISCOURAGES participations by members if they have an alternate viewpoint.

This should have been voted on by the membership as a whole. It probably would have passed, and the same result would have been achieved the right way. We can support the Palestinians without trampling the rights of union members.

My signature here has nothing to do with my political beliefs but does signify my extreme disappointment with how the AFT 2121 slipped this resolution through without notifying or seeking support from the CCSF faculty. There are plenty of issues at CCSF to be digging into and that is where the time and energy (and $ !!!) should be prioritized.

At a time when AFT is worried about retaining member when the Janus case is decided, this was a very poor decision. It has divided the faculty at a time when they should be advocating for unity. The excuse that AFT leadership had "carefully" considered" this, and therefore all faculty should agree with them is simply insulting. AFT should focus on what they do very well: advocating for faculty working conditions, and avoid turning AFT into a soapbox for the leadership’s personal political opinions.

The end does not justify the means. Process needs to be more democratic if it presents itself as representative of CCSF faculty.

This is to protest the AFT 2121 speaking on my behalf without my consent. I also object to AFT2121 bullying tactics. Anyone who speaks out in disagreement with leadership is maligned and ostracized.
