The Government of the day has decided that it will ban Facebook to conduct more thorough research into holding Facebook users accountable for the spread of pornographic and illicit material online. The government says that a month long ban is the first relevant step into ensuring that the site (Facebook) is used purposefully and within the regulations of the social media website as well as our constitution. But what the government has forgone is the individual freedoms that our constitution has set out, notably, our freedom to free speech, free thought. When that basic right is SURPRESSED, we mustn't only speak about it, we must act on it.

I hope that all Facebook users in PNG take time to sign this petition, with full disclosure that their Facebook profiles are authentic, that they are legitimate, and that they use Facebook purposefully.
We WILL get enough signatures to send to the Minister of Communication, Hon. Sam Basil.

Ridiculous idea. How are we supposed to keep in touch with family overseas now? Leave our internet alone.
