My son is in Kindergarten and being online is a disservice to him. He is not learning this way. His teacher is awesome but the content is what he learned in 3/4 year old preschool at Holbrook and there is too much screen time for a 5 year old. Being an only child, He feels lonely and this is doing more harm to all of the children’s mental health. If Dewitt and the surrounding schools can go back GL can too. I know East Lansing and Okemos will be sending their young kids back in the next month and they are larger districts. This is not acceptable of GL and shows that the board does not have the best interest of the children in mind.

Have two children with special needs and they are getting behind and not getting the time and attention they need because I am splitting my time with three kids. My daughter who has autism is not getting any support and I feel is falling behind. There are too many programs to maneuver and causes all kinds of stress for me and my mother in law. My husband is unable to help due to the technology requirements. Please give us the option to send the kids back!

My daughter had Covid this summer, it was nothing I’d have even taken her to the doctor for. Staying at home from school since March is killing her. It is extremely depressing, especially watching other schools successfully reopen.

We are making the best of this unprecedented situation, but we so greatly want the option to return to in person. I have one child with an IEP that needs the in person interaction to continue to make progress and one child who needs additional opportunities, as the grade level work is not challenging enough and in prior years her teachers were able to see that and provide resources to keep her engaged and challenged. I can tell the teachers are putting in tremendous amounts of work and I applaud them for their extraordinary efforts, but virtual learning does not compare with in person instruction.

The time is now to start bringing our kids back to school for in-person learning. If larger school districts in the Detroit area can do it safely, so can we. Our kids are missing out on all the things virtual school cannot offer and their social, emotional and physical well-being are suffering as a result.

My children need the in face instruction and social interaction. They are high school, 4.0+ students that are struggling to stay interested and engaged. As high schoolers, they are fully capable of wearing masks and washing their hands. Other school districts are opening successfully. There is no valid reason to continue to hold our children back.

My kids are desperately struggling, I'm sure they are behind a lot. Doing the assignments my kids don't even want to do, lucky if I can get a couple of them. Virtual isn't cutting it for us. My youngest is going to Holbrook and no issues so far.
