It is outrageous that Camberwell and Peckham, 2 of the most highly populated areas of zone 2, have not been seriously considered for an underground service. Why?

Yes please - it's pretty shocking how poorly served this lovely and very central area of london is in terms of the tube.

I live in Kennington which means I'm extremely well served, but walk down the road for a couple of miles and suddenly there's nothing for the residents. It seems to me that Camberwell and Peckham deserve the chance to be linked up with Waterloo and other hubs by the Bakerloo line.

The rich of North London are covered.
The rich of South West to East London are covered.
The poor of South London are ignored; buses being good enough, if not too good, for them.
The overland rail track to Camberwell lies abandoned. reconnect it. The oft planned Northern Line extension to Camberwell and Peckham got as far as the Underground platform sign for it (before it was blacked-out). Is that stretch of line to be used exclusively by MI5 and the American Embassy?

I have lived in my Camberwell my whole life, and as a resident of this area I truly believe Camberwell is fantastic in terms of bus service but not for trains/tubes. The nearest tube station to me is Oval, nearest train station is Denmark Hill and as I live in between these stations, it's quite inconvenient. Camberwell deserves to have its own tube station, as a large number of people live here and pass through Camberwell everyday.

The benefits would be amazing. At the moment the Denmark Hill overground is limited at weekends. No later train at night. A direct train into town would save loads of time meeting up with friends.

Peckham and Camberwell in particular are stuck in a rail-less void in the middle of South London, and would benefit MASSIVELY from a tube extension or new branch line. The area has been grossly underserved by transport development and needs serious investment to improve links in the area, and a tube extension would relieve the often considerable traffic congestion on roads in these areas.

Any rail connection would free up bus routes and reduce congestion and pollution on a major route in central London, particularly important in light of the Aylesbury & Elmington Estate regeneration projects.

With the increase in development in Stratford, the Docklands and with Crossrail it is ridiculous to neglect Camberwell which is only one mile from Westminster.
The property boom over the last two years has meant that a lot of professionals working in the City now live in Camberwell and unfortunately the Overground is not sufficient.
Better transport links are vital to the local economy.
