On February 14th 2020 a new case of COVID-19 was reported in British Columbia, bringing the total number of cases to 5 in the province and 8 across the country.
While all the previous 7 patients had been to or had close contact with people from Hubei Province, the COVID-19 epicenter in China, the patient of the 8th case came from Shanghai, and had no recent travel history to Hubei Province.
However, our current guideline from the Public Health Agency of Canada only requests travellers from Hubei Province to stay at home and self-isolate for 14 days. In light of the new situation, we recommend that PHAC updates the quarantine guideline to include all the passengers coming from mainland China and Hong Kong.

I am currently drafting a formal letter to PHAC officials to demand a clear expansion of these requirements. I trust most people would self-quaratine upon arrival. Please provide guidelines on matters such as accomodation and employer's consent. Let's make it fair and healthy for everybody in this welfare state.
I wish Canada’s government will pay more attention to the person who flight back Canada from other country and find some place For them if they want to isolate themselves
People from China (including Hong Kong, macau), Japan and severely affected areas can be quarantined for more than 14 days for observation. Please observe for the health and safety of the Canadian people!
Australia and some other countries do not let people from China go to their country without 14 days isolated. So what the people do? They come to Canada ( especially to Vancouver) to buffer 14 says ( stay in Vancouver for at lease 14 days) and then flight to Australia or other countries. I think We should do something for this also.
Canada doesn't have as many resources and the administrative ability as China does. If the same situation happened in Canada, our medical system, economics and society would collapse. Prevention, Prevention, Prevention !
Please do something good for your local citizens
If the government does not take immediate and strict action, the pandemic will destroy Canada’s economy soon! Our low-efficiency medical system will not afford the pandemic, for sure!

The Canadian government must. It is a must to take the corona virus issue very seriously. Care for the health of all the citizens starts with the ability of the government to detect the incoming danger of the matter. The government should know the capacity of their own facilities. Currently, the downgrading of the seriousness of the corona virus is not acceptable, even with the international outburst that has already occurred. After all, the duty of the government is to solve problems and in this case, improving and knowing how to prevent this from becoming an even more disastrous situation.
