3 months is certainly not enough. Come on now!!!

3 months is not adequate time for a mother to cope with the changes in her body as well as nurture a child. In most cases both mother and child suffer gravely from separation anxiety when mother places child in day care and the mother returns to work. Studies show the mother's productivity levels are hampered. No kidding she cant give her best when her child is with strangers. Special attention needs to be paid to extended paternal leave for fathers they too welcomed a bundle of joy. Note also the dynamic of new mothers with sick new borns.

I think this is a good movement. Mothers need to have that bond with their young ones. Also it is very difficult to find day care for a child so young, especially with shady people out there.

This could make a huge difference in Barbados and the world over. If there is any hesitancy regarding change check out countries like Sweden that have implemented radical changes and have had phenomenal results. We can do this! We SHOULD do this!

I fully support this. Mothers need this extra time to bond with their child and recuperate. And the child needs as much lactating time as it can get.
