Even before I became a mother I was in favor of this. 3 months is no time at all to establish a proper bond or routine with your child. Also we need to take the father's into account and I believe at least a month will be the perfect time for them to bond with their child.

Both my deliveries were emergency c-sections and my recovery might have been very different had I been able to give myself more time. Most of my time at home with my twin (second pregnancy) was spent in pain and not being able to do much for them. Also, breastfeeding them when they went to the nursery was very difficult. Once they started the bottle they no longer wanted breastmilk
