I returned to Fresno in 1999 having grown up here from 1948. FUSD's schools had, in general, horrible student outcomes then. They're still horrible. Something's gotta change. Good idea to start at the top. Hire a proven successful administrator who is given clear goals and is held responsible for meeting them.

As an employee of FUSD and parent to a FUSD student, I witness and agree with Board President Susan Wittrup’s statement. There is evidence of a continued cycle of underperformance and mismanagement within FUSD and it most definitely correlates to Fresno’s continued underwhelming Socio-Economic status. Opening the highest position as Superintendent of FUSD to all well-qualified candidates, regardless of their position within or not FUSD, is the best choice for our most important stake-holders, our students.

The Fresno school district's parents and children deserve and should demand much more from the board. They should not accept more of the same. We need a bold, bright new leader from outside and the community needs to support this person. My thoughts, Steve

This is really a no brainer! Do your BEST Fresno Unified! You can still come back to within if that is the ABSOLUTE BEST CANDIDATE for our students.

My parents, my siblings and I, and my children are Fresno Unified graduates. Though I do not and will not in the future have any direct descendents enrolled in Fresno Unified I find it incomphrendable that a search for the superindent position is not open to the broadest candidate base possible. Our children in Fresno Unified need the best possible candidate pool from which to hire the next superindent.

FUSD has shown patterns of manipulating facts to cover up/hide poor behavior made by site officials and district administrators. This needs to change. The FUSD board can’t be allowed tohide behind a ‘home-grown superintendent forever. What a disservice to the teachers and students of Fresno.

FUSD should do a nationwide search for the superintendent position. The board members who do not think so should be recalled because they are not doing the job they were hired (voted) to do.

Fresno Unified is failing miserably, when right next-door in Clovis Unified, they are successful. Why is it Clovis Unified can enforce their cell phone policy, while Fresno Unified students are still having theirs out in the classroom, and being disruptive with them. And that’s just one of the problems. I say we look to the outside to see if we can find someone qualified for this position.

Please open the application pool to outsiders, I am so tired of the same people who does not care about our children. Fresno unified cannot go another year under anyone who use to under Nelson. Our children deserve the best.

NEED TO HIRE A STRONG SUPERINTENDENT WHO WILL MAKE DRASTIC CHANGES TO IMPROVE THOSE HORRIBLE TEST SCORES IN FRESNO UNIFIED!
BOB NELSON DID A HORRIBLE JOB AS SUPERINTENDENT AND IS INTENTIONALLY ESCAPING THE HEAT AND DAMAGE HE CAUSED TO THE DISTRICT BOTH ACADEMICALLY AND FINANCIALLY!

Please find someone that is qualified and not who you know. I really feel like we need to move away from the whole who you know and not what you know. If someone within is the right person, after a third party company looks for someone, then that is fine.
