Time for change -I support transparency in search of a qualified candidate.

It is absolutely ridiculous that a district the size of Fresno Unified would be so arrogant and shortsighted to think that the best candidate for Superintendent can only come from within the organization. I'm appalled and angry. The board clearly has failed in their duty to the citizens of the city and the children and parents in the district. Shame on you! Open interviews to outside candidates. Do the right thing for our district!

Strongly support widely cast search. Inside and outside the district.

As a parent with two children currently enrolled in FUSD (Edison H.S., Baird) I believe an expansive, nationwide search should be conducted. The manner in which the process has been handled thus far appears to lack the level of rigor a decision like this warrants.

It's important to consider all qualified candidates in order to select the best fit.

Thank you for doing the right thing and not rubber stamping an internal appointment.

Truly pathetic behavior. You can’t keep re-electing the same trustees and expect different results though. They act like teflon and it’s time to show them they are not. Stop the spiral. Our kids are suffering needlessly.

There are too many people promoted to top positions in the district who failed at their previous assignment. Just because you have a doctorate in education doesn’t qualify you for n associate superintendent. Outside person can clean up the district and make all accountable

New energy and ideas from a qualified outside candidate with experiences in different districts is a necessary change. This district’s needs are not so special and significant that only someone within the district can do it. That’s small town, small minded thinking. Our kids deserve candidates with broader experience to provide an objective view of its current position.

We need new vision from outside California .

At least try to find someone from outside, maybe from a successful district with similar demographics. Someone just walking the same path will not have new insights.

Fresno Unified is the third largest school district in California, and the search for a superintendent warrants a state and even nationwide recruitment in order to attract the most qualified and experienced candidates. I just recently retired from FUSD after 20+ years of service to the district, an I know for a fact that there is no one in house at FUSD who is capable of effectively addressing the ongoing issues faced by the district. FUSD needs strong leadership to bring about the change that Fresno students need and deserve!

If the best comes from within, show us by searching the nation first.

As third largest school district a national search is best practice, staying within the district reeks of favoritism and backward thinking! If someone local is outstanding then they will outshine where ever candidates come from!
