Expand the Quiet Zone on the West Rail Line – RTD Fast TracksExpand
Austin Jenkins
Assistant General Manager
Rail Operations Department
Regional Transportation District
Dear Mr. Jenkins,
The West Rail Fast Tracks is creating noise pollution in the Daniels Garden and surrounding communities. Namely from the horn blowing and rail road crossings that begin after Oak Street and continue through the Federal Center crossing. We would like the quiet zone extended through the Federal Center crossing.
The stress and inconvenience the noise is causing is wide spread through the community. Children and adults alike are awaking with each blow of the horn throughout the night and walking around with tension from the new found noise in our relatively quite community. The schedule as you know begins at 3:21 am and runs through 2:14 am. Leaving us with less than two hours of silence through the night. During peak hours the train runs every 7 minutes. Multiply this by two (1 for each direction) and we are subject to continued disturbance throughout the day.
There is a quiet zone in effect from Federal through Oak. Please for the sake of our community, our mental state and the value of our homes work with the PUC to extend the quiet zone through the Federal Center crossing. We understand the PUC governs the railway crossings in Colorado.
Sincerely,
Sponsor
