As residents of Exeter, we have added our signature to this petition to ask the Town and businesses to ban the use of styrofoam and seek alternatives to plastic packaging, as many other towns and states have already done. Our planet is suffering with nonrecyclable single-use plastics and we should be looking to making Exeter as sustainable as possible.

I was looking at the screen thinking about all the takeout containers I see littering the sides of the road and it just hits me that we actually have real momentum now. It feels like people are finally tired of seeing that white foam everywhere because this is growing way faster than I ever thought it would.

Let's ban styrofoam, such as the to-go cups currently used in downtown Exeter for ice cream.
A group such as those of us supporting this ban would gain credibility if we could research sources for alternative packaging materials to assist local businesses in making such a transition. Any suggested resources ?
The Town of Exeter needs to enforce a Styrofoam ban (and eventually a single-use plastic ban), which would reduce waste, eliminate a possible carcinogen(!), and encourage sustainable behavioral changes.
I am the minister at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation in Exeter and Support this ban and wide ranging bans on non-renewable substances.
Please- for the love our earth- knock it off with the styrofoam. I’m pretty sure most of us are happy spending more to get compostable containers to take our food home with. Plastic etc, all needs to GO!

Time to invest in more sustainable options. I avoid some of the restaurants that use a lot of plastic and styrofoam.
