Protect the Exe: Stop Excessive Control & Charges from the Proposed HRO

The river runs fine in it’s current state, no need for more bureaucracy and as a result increase in charges to river users.

No to bad things to exe river

Too much too late the exe estuary could be a huge recreational asset but the wrong council wants the control and due to its geography has had bad intentions for future. The famous Exeter canal has always been a burden to the city they have to unlock its potential and directed to residential use offering it as click bate for the new occupants who will eventually want to restrict leisure and commercial use. The lower exe were ecc has no adjoining vested interest will be used as the cash cow to fund the bloated management but they will eventually find the cow will depart the river and move to more accommodating locations who have understood the requirements of users and inhansed the amenity. Ecc have failed to develop the potential of the exe for the last 60 years and have shown no sign that they could improve in the future. I have witnessed a very slow death of this wonderful estuary and giving Ecc this power will hasten this, I hove no objection to control and management when the management is competint and Ecc shown no sign that they could manage the exe.

I Object to the proposed HRO on the grounds that it could: Impose unnecessary bureaucracy Undermine the independence of local businesses Introduce unclear and potentially onerous licence terms Grant the council disproportionate enforcement powers Remove the rights of water users that have been enjoyed for hundreds of years

Sup and dinghy should be exempt of charges

This is not an improvement for the area and needs reviewing

Council trying control everything is not democratic, it leads to dictatorship.

This act will cause young people to have less accesses to the river exe

I represented Exe Power Boat and Ski Club at the 2008 ECC HRO. The primary issue then was transfer of liability for everything from oil spills to sunk/abandoned vessels from its proper place - Local or National Government - to a small population of local boaties. This issue has been resolved where the new proposal is effectively for a Municipal Port, but there are many, many other issues, some outlined here. "If it ain't broke don't fix it" and the legislation we have now has worked since the amendment in 1974 to set up the ski area and de-restricted area for circuit racing. It would be sensible to stop ECC wasting a HUGE amount of money (again) on a flawed proposal. PLEASE take time to object.

We do not need more petty restrictions

Bureaucracy at the expense of benefits and innovation.

Please, no more bureaucracy and this is not needed.

How can this even be considered ? The waterways are the only asset each and every person has to enjoy with its natural life and without financial burden.

The Exe should be free to paddle on as per the Right to Paddle & Right to Roam freely.

Will we get a refund if we can't swim due to sewage in water?

Every attempt to make an area a better place by a council has failed and the views of the people are never correctly considered because of possible income taking the priority - Listen to how many people say "it was better before the council got involved" for any project. Stop this outragous unecessary taxation and leave the Exe alone.
