Protect the Exe: Stop Excessive Control & Charges from the Proposed HRO

We don't need additional services thanks, and we don't need more charges for whic we receive nothing in return.

I totally disagree with the proposed HRO for the Exe estuary for many reasons including affecting tourism, local businesses and stopping the enjoyment of many on using the river even with non motored craft which is in conflict with the council's policy to promote wellbeing. I can see no evident advantage. Additionally administration costs will no doubt be met by the local population.

Objects to extra and unnecessary costs which will fall on users plus excessive legal powers given to an unaccountable body

The business and tourist economy in Exeter and East Devon is already damaged through frequent pollutions of the water. We should not be creating other reasons for tourists not to visit with charges for recreational water users.

I object to the proposed charges for enjoying the Exe Estuary for water sports, paddle boarding and kitesurfing included.

The Exe estuary has been enjoyed by locals for hundreds of years, by imposing unnecessary bureaucracy it will have a profound affect on the mental health of people who enjoy boating, paddle boarding etc.

This will have an adverse affect on local businesses, this is totally unacceptable

The river Exe has worked fine for the last ten years I have been using it.

Train a Police unit to drive a boat, because that's all is needed. EPA have a perfectly good RHIB that they could use.

Totally unnecessary

Topsham has operated as a port town for 800+ years. Free access to the water for residents and visitors is a right worth protecting for future generations to enjoy.

This is ridiculous and should not be allowed

What truely awful plans! This is not thought out at all!

Our river should be able to be used by us, without being charged! It’s not like the council dredges it. We should be able to paddleboard freely

This will have a huge impact on river users and frankly the Exe does not offer enough for people to pay a lot more to use it

It has no owner to charge. You cannot assume ownership because you want more money!

The whole point of Topsham is that it is NOT Dartmouth, Salcombe or any of those fancy places. It’s a small, local community and if you make it hard for locals to simply enjoy being on the river easily, you’re cutting your nose to spite your face.

I have used the waterway in a responsible and respectful manner with family and friends for over 20 years without charge and strongly believe it should be kept that way.

This will ruin the whole of Exeter and stop activity’s which don’t need taxing
