Protect the Exe: Stop Excessive Control & Charges from the Proposed HRO

Very disappointing to see that this is even being proposed. The river should be a free amenity for everyone to use. Why make it more difficult for people to enjoy the great natural amenities on our doorstep.

This is outrageous, and very poorly publicised. The council should be ashamed.

I object to the HRO

At a time when we need more rights of access (free) this is a perverse proposal!

How can Exeter City Council think this is acceptable? absolute disgrace. Purely a cash raising exercise without consultation of local people.

Charging paddle boarders and kayaks per day is not the way forward.

These change deserves proper consultation. Which clearly hasn’t happened

I object to this

We should be encouraging all and any outdoor activities for the sake of our health and mental wellbeing.

Water users should be entitled to use the waterways using the extant arrangements. There is not a problem on the Exe Estuary with regards to coexistence of the multiple different types of water user under the current arrangements. I am a wind -surfer, sailor, power boat user and stand-up paddleboarder. Therefore, I am able to confirm that all these craft types co exist well under the current arrangments. Generating revenue in order to pay extra staff to enforce laws which are not necessary is against the spirit of UK Society

The Exe should be kept with free public access… otherwise water sports become only for the rich and local people will no longer be able to enjoy the river.

I object to this proposal and am disappointed by the lack of transparency.

I believe this proposal is wrong. All businesses using the water are taxed and licensed anyway. They have public liability insurance. Why is all this necessary.

As a paddle boarder I object to the council making what is a low energy and non environmental harm a possible criminal offence

Rivers for everyone

I believe the River Exe should remain a public amenity for all to use without charge

This will be totally unaffordable. All people need access to leisure

This proposal seems most unfair, expensive, and unnecessary. Exeter Council should be promoting the use of the River Exe for leisure purposes, not trying to make money out of it all!
