This petition is going to be used to file a written objection signed by as many Xcel Energy customers as possible. The petition will be sent to the Public Utilities Commission of Colorado no later than May 23, 2006. This petition is a written objection to the proposed rate increases that could take effect on January, 2007. These rate increases will raise customer\'s bills by 11.61% and will put into effect a late fee policy of 1.5% of your bill to residential customers. According to Xcel, the increase would be of only 10.15 percent of your bill, however, in the impacts section of the brochure, it states that the increase is of 11.61%. Xcel tried to give cutomers a window of 2 days since the notice came in the mail to let them file a written objection. The Colorado Public Utilities Commision has declined that and given its customers until May 23, 2006 to file written objection. Please do not let a local monopoly take advantage of their customers.
Xcel Energy thinks they can bury us in fine print while they pick our pockets with these rate hikes. The momentum we have built proves they cannot hide from us anymore.

11 percent is way to much. they have a monopoly and just do whatever they want with our money.

these late fees are predatory. they know people are struggling and just want to squeeze more out of us.
