Pledge your support to the motion that exams can be exempted in Rock Hill School District 3 with a certain class average, so that some day soon your hard work over the course of 18 weeks can be rewarded with the ability to not have to take an exam worth 20% of your grade.

I logged on this morning and honestly just stared at the screen because I never expected to see this much energy behind the idea of skipping finals. It says so much about how tired everyone is of carrying the weight of these tests after working so hard all semester long.

I was just looking at the number and realized we are creeping up on that next milestone which honestly feels kind of surreal because I started this while I was drinking coffee in my kitchen and now look at us. If everyone reading this just grabs one person who actually wants to skip these finals and gets them to click the link we will cross that line before school ends today.

I was looking at the total earlier and we are just about to hit one hundred names which is honestly wild because I barely expected my friends to even notice this thing. My brain is already halfway to the school board office but we really need a few more people to click the button right now to push us over that threshold before I can stop pacing around my room.

Personally, I have many difficulties taking exams. I stress about them, then I get over-anxious and break down. I know that I understand the content, and my grades show it.
It makes no since for me to work hard to get straight A's all school year just to have an exam that is 20% of my grade. Especially when the exams that are given are everything other than what you have been taught all year. Students should have the choice wether or not they want to take these exams so that 1 test doesn't. ruin their years worth of hard work.
I know of a lot of schools and friends who do this. It's not just our state too. I'm originally from New Jersey and there the high school has this rule, if your final average grade is a B or higher then you can exempt your final exam!
I worked all year to keep my A in a Spanish class. Took the exam, didn't do well, and my grade dropped to a B. ALL YEAR I kept that A by working hard and I studied hard for the exam but when you ask a student who is not a native speaker to regurgitate nearly 10 different verb tenses that are almost identical it's unfair. My grade on the final should not affect my overall grade so much that it moved my down an entire letter grade that I worked to hard to keep all year.
this is good i mean i feel like kids will want to work harder for a good GPA year round and learn more because of there effort.

Not everyone is a good test taker!! Some people could be really smart but just are not good at taking tests. After all the work we put in hours of study listening and learning are you really going to let one test determine if you are smart and should be able to pass the class. Not only that these exams put so much more pressure and stress on kids that sometimes they are focused more on getting the good grade then doing their best and they have mental breakdowns. School should not be based on a test it should be based on helping and making sure the child is learning and excelling in the work in the classroom.
