EV Residents for Green Code Compliance

This entire project has been presented in a dishonest manner. At the neighborhood meeting I attended we were assured that Ciminelli would respect the wishes of the neighbors and not over-build; and at the public unveiling of the design, before the projection was shown those in attendance were assured that the project would comply with the Elmwood Village Design Standards. Now I see that Dennis Penman wants us to believe that this thing is "consistent" with the Green Code. None of those statements or assurances are true, and the two about the Green Code and the EV Design Standards don't even pass the blush test. This is one of the most attractive blocks in the city, abutting an Olmsted Parkway, and the community is being threatened with a midnight demolition and the prospect of a big hole in the middle of the best functioning neighborhood in the city. This is an outrage.

Please do not build on this lot. I will ruin the character of our Elmwood Village.

Soon there will be more new build than old .Look at this in connection with the forest Bird new build and we're in new suburbs. Who can afford the rent prices?

In these earliest days of the Green Code, it is especially critical that all new projects are held strictly to the new rules, to demonstrate that the city is serious about the changes in development style that the Green Code represents.

This article shows images of the proposed project. The developers say, “The project is intended to fit into the context of the surrounding streetscape and urban setting by reflecting the vitality and street energy of Elmwood Avenue combined with a beautiful Bidwell Parkway setting,” These renderings show THE OPPOSITE of "fitting in to the context of the current streetscape." The structure overshadows the Bidwell Parkway setting. https://www.buffalorising.com/2016/11/big-reveal-ciminellis-elmwoodbidwell-redevelopment-plan/

We need to preserve and reuse the buildings that made us so attractive a place to live and shop. Not to destroy them so fast buck artists can ruin it for the future and leave us holding the bag. Buffalo needs new develpoement but not in EV. Save the Village.

I am a homeowner in the neighborhood of this proposed project and a constituent of the Delaware District of the Buffalo Common Council. Council Member Feroleto should be enforcing the new Green Code and opposing the planned demolition and monstrosity of a building.

Large scale projects should be completed in the downtown area, where the scale is appropriate. Please don't ruin the very fabric of the Elmwood Village, as the project at West Delavan already is. Buffalo is unique in its neighborhoods which is why people are drawn to it.

If you destroy the past it's an asset you can never retrieve. The character of the buildings in the EV can never be duplicated for charm and variety- beauty and a sense of our past. Build beautiful new buildings where there are none like the east side or some derelict buildings in the elmwood village but don't take down beautiful old brick facades to put up mediocre new ones. Thank you .

Keeping the character and street scape dimensions of this area of Elmwood is paramount.

This development is entirely out of balance with the neighborhood. For a quality living experience, there must be a fair balance between residential and appropriate, properly scaled, commercial development

I am completely against the demolition of these buildings. Demolishing them would destroy the neighborhood that I have lived in my entire life. This is all about money, when a beautiful historic district must be retained.

I am especially opposed to the proposed height of the structure and the extremely large footprint it will have in the EV.

Once these buildings are gone, the beauty and charm of that area are lost forever. I don't live in Elmwood Village, but as a lover of all things old, I'd hate to see that happen. Also, it doesn't make sense to tear down buildings and houses that are in good shape and still being used. I hope enough people will sign this petition. I have seen what Urban Renewal of the 60's and 70's has done to cities and towns and it was not for the better!

preservation over destruction - just look back at buildings that have been demolished that years later people lament - you cannot bring something back once you've destroyed it.
