The Elmwood Village's quaint mosaic needs to be preserved. It is Buffalo Culture at it's finest! Renovate And Stay Quaint! ...rather than destroy and cookie-cutter. NYC belongs there. Not here. No thank you, Ciminelli.

The turn of the century homes on Elmwood Avenue and Forest Avenue that are targeted for destruction are historic and can never be replaced. The irony of the demolition is the assertion by the developers that they are drawn to the area by the charm of the neighborhood. Here they will be destroying the very reason they claim they want to be there. Instead of building an out of scale high density "McCondo" the developers should embrace the defining features of the existing homes and restore their glory and beauty. For a fraction of the cost of building the new monstrosity that is planned the existing homes can be turned into jewels of the area and be another reason to draw in the residents and visitors. The money planned to be spent on destruction can be channeled to development in neighboring areas that have other existing buildings that can be rehabilitated or restored for new uses. Let us honor the past and save the best for future generations to enjoy.

Let's keep the Elmwood Village business district (and residential areas, too) quaint, charming, and local small businesses rather than by demolitions and new builds proposed by Ciminelli and Chason developers as having a look described by a writer in "Buffalo Rising" as "modern, and progressive" and resembling a "NYC style streetscape".

We should preserve this neighborhood that has stood the test of time. Once the historic homes are razed they will be gone forever. Principles of Complete Streets bars such reckless development. Save our city!

I'm opposed to this project because it is antithetical to the neighborhood's scale and ambiance.

I was born and lived in Elmwood Village on Forest Avenue (within 300 feet of the planned destruction of this grand neighborhood). It is a disgrace that for many years the government has encouraged "demolition by neglect" of the several properties on Elmwood Avenue that are targeted for destruction by lax building and zoning law enforcement. There is no meaningful attention to the impact of the replacement of these historic structures with a modern building dominating the skyline will bring to the area. In addition to destroying the harmony of the architecture of Elmwood Village and the surrounding neighborhood, the danger created by active driveways to pedestrians and vehicles, the impact on sewers and waste removal and other environmental factors must be studied before "rubber stamp" approval is given. The lessons of the destruction of many of Buffalo's landmarks (e.g. the Louis Sullivan building) appear to have never been learned by those ready to further decimate the history of this great city. Once the history of this area is taken away, it can never be recovered. Instead of removing what is good to be replaced by a dubious construction, developers should focus upon nearby vacant areas that truly need development and assistance. Progress is sometimes good, just not here.

I believe these plans are only to line the pockets of these developers, will destroy the cultural heritage that is essential to the Elmwood village, and will only perpetuate a rise in rent prices. These developers have no interest in developing sustainable neighborhoods or addressing any of these community issues, but are purely profit motivated.

As a new resident of Buffalo, NY and the Elmwood Village in particular, I've already fallen in love with this truly special neighborhood. As a transplant from an urban neighborhood that was growing rapidly, I've seen firsthand the destruction that large-scale, shortsighted "development" can have on a neighborhood's unique architecture and overall character. This ruins what made the neighborhood attractive and desirable for development in the first place, and I don't want to see this happen to the Elmwood Village.

Elmwood Village has an attractive, humane residential and pedestrian-friendly character. Please prevent out-sized development that only benefits the developers.

I absolutely expect the green code to be upheld in ALL new development on Elmwood.

Please invest in areas of Buffalo that require revival instead of pursuing opportunistic actions that will cannibalize the very elements that make this a desirable area.

Demolition of any of these neighborhood homes or building is completely unacceptable.

If you demolish everything on Elmwood that makes it Elmwood what will we be left with? Please do not destroy Elmwood for personal profit!
