I think that having a Greek name for a JC is an interesting idea but it sounds like a "disease" as I heard my friends say. Please help to change the name to an easier and more pleasing to hear one to say.

This name, although meaningful, is too apt to ridicule in the Singapore context because of the way it sounds. The teasing makes light of the good aims and intentions of the school, its students and teachers, and unneccessarily saps morale, especially since this a new school that is only just starting out. A better alternative name can be found that will reflect the values of the school just as aptly, but yet not be so prone to ridicule.

A poor choice of name. Sadly it will turn good students away.

I know we tend to be associated with a lack of imagination or creativity, as seen by the way we name most of our bridges & some of our malls, produce weird songs for our national day parade, rip off several other companies in some organisations' adverts etc. However, this is a different beast. Who's going to be able to pronounce this correctly? How many different versions are we going to hear? How many times are students going to get mocked for this? What is actually symbolic/relevant about this name to the school's vision and mission other than sounding extremely pretentious and worse still, like a disease? Please let Singapore be spared from a national embarrassment.

Here we witness the demise of the 3 reputable secondary schools. If they don't change the name, there will be an obvious fall in demand into going for the IP track of these schools from next year onwards

i feel that although the name has the meaning "beautiful mind" or something along those lines, which is quite meaningful, the name has been ridiculed and sarcastically used by many singaporeans. but i am not signing this because of the reaction, i am signing this because being one of the pioneers of this jc, i felt that the decision had to be agreed by both pioneer teachers and students. a unanimous agreement is crucial for a happy and conducive environment but i can safely say that no vote, poll whatsoever has been made to agree on a name for the new jc. although the school made the effort for us to contribute name ideas, they didn't seek anymore help other than that. i do appreciate that they did this and found a unique word, but the word does sound a bit weird and also has the alternative medical meaning of "normal mental state of health" i believe. i have no intentions on hurting anyone's feelings. this is just my view, my opinion
