I see myself as 'European' not English. I studied in The Netherlands and now live in Austria, where my ( English) husband and I decided to bring up our children. We are shocked and horrified by the referendum, which we know was a result of ignorance. There is a lot wrong in UK but it is the fault of the government, not the EU. Unfortunately, people believed the lies spread by the brexit campaigners. There is no way we want to loose our status as European citizens.

The EU has been a force for good. It can be improved and adapt to the new challenges ahead. We should be working together for a better future for our young people.

I would have liked the letter to refer to the disenfranchised, like myself, outside the UK (in another Member State) for over 15 years and those who didn't receive their ballots on time.

I am British but could not vote as I have lived in France for 23 years and have had no say in Brexit even though it will affect my life considerably.

I am neither proud nor ashamed to be British - that was an accident of birth and beyond my control. I am European -that was my choice, a choice given freely and freely accepted. Why should anyone have the right to take that away?

The EU has been a civilising force in Europe and the UK. The extreme right has driven a campaign that has duped people and puts shared values of progress, peace and tolerance at risk. We must stop this.

The debate for leaving the EU was riddled with lies and misinformation and many Brexiters have changed their minds. Give me my EU back!

The Eu has many faults, and the UK has more. The British electorate was misled into believing that the latter were the consequences of the former. because it was impossible for 'remain' politicians to admit to another explanation - that policies here have failed.
In or out of the EU, most of the thinking people, and even more of the young, believe in Europe.

As the consequences of the referendum are beginning to emerge, its increasingly clear that there were no logical arguments in favour of Brexit. This was a victory for xenophobia and racism. However even if we lost an important battle, we haven't lost the war and we should continue to support decent values.

I feel not only that we have lost our position in Europe but that in doing so people like myself have lost our country. It is also important for those outside Britain to understand that many of the Leave voters have been brutally deceived by the Leave campaign.

" in dreams begins responsibility" we dreamed a Europe of tolerance, justice, peace and democracy; we feel responsible and committed to its continuing realisation; we will not run away when it might seem politically expedient; we cannot run away from what we are; which is European; We were voters in the referendum.
