We are geographically part of Europe and he cultures and histories of European countries are indissolubly intertwined, whatever the political situation. European union (with a lower case 'u') has helped bring peace to our continent and we need to maintain this.

The European Union is far from being perfect and should really be improved but it started after a terrible time in the history of Europe and the ideal it is based on shouldn't be forgotten !

Brexit is a grave error economically and politically for the UK and for Europe. For those of us, British citizens, who live and work in Europe it risks being a disaster.

I am a long-term expat living in France, but deeply attached to my native country. It is a grief to me that the first EU commission meeting has been held, with Britain represented by an empty chair. That is the reality of this.

May the younger generations benefit as much from European cooperation as we have. Please remember that European collaboration in all domains of research is also vital.

While the European Union is necessarily imperfect, a great deal has been achieved, and only by remaining committed to it can improvements be made.

The European project is one of the high watermarks of western civilization - and one I hold extremely dear. I am English, yes. I am a Londoner, yes. I am British, yes. But I am also a European and a fully committed member of the EU.
