As a university which cites research excellence as a priority, for Exeter Uni to ignore the wealth of evidence in support of divestment is indefensible.

As a memebr of staff at the university I think this is an excellent idea, setting an example both within the university community itself, but also something that could be highlighted to the wider community that the university is a part of.

Investments should be made in green energy and certainly nor fossil fuels in order to help reduce our countries dependence on these climate change inducing fuels! Also, fossil fuels are not a wise long-term investment given if we are to reduce our GHG emissions, most of them will have to remain in the ground.

It is necessary that the university reflects its population's values and is not financially driven. What the university is doing is simple hypocrisy.

I strongly support this petition and believe that the University should revise it's investment choices. Exeter's current investments are not in line with the many degrees taught at this University which focus on sustainability and progress.
