" I originally invested in GTAT because development of solar technology is necessary if we are going to give future generations a chance to live on a healthy planet. I only invest in companies that I believe will make the world a better place. GT Advanced Technology's Merlin solar technology will bring huge cost reductions to the solar industry and make it possible for homeowners and businesses to create their own affordable renewable energy around the world. They recently announced a partnership with an Indian company, Waarree Energies Limited, in Inda. The two companies will team together to produce stronger, lighter, and more efficient solar panels in Inda and in the U.S., creating many new jobs in our country, rather than producing everything off shore. I also believe that the company's sapphire technology would have generated revenue and value for GTAT investors in 2014 if Apple hadn't sidetracked them from their original business plan with unrealistic R&D expectations. Hyperion laminate technology should also begin to produce revenue in 2015. The stockholders paid for this R&D - not the hedge funds that were short over 50% of GTAT shares on October 6 and scored record profits. The people of this country have to be able to trust the markets in order to invest in U.S. companies, and we need those companies to create jobs. Letting Wall Street continue to siphon capital out of the pockets of real investors hurts the people they exploit and impairs the economy as a whole.
