For the last 40 years, Temple has had some of college basketball's most iconic head coaches guiding its men's basketball teams. Harry Litwack, Don Casey, John Chaney, and Fran Dunphy have brought a tremendous amount of success to the program at Temple University. Between record-breaking win-totals, postseason appearances, top-tier recruiting, and producing all-around good-natured student-athletes, all four coaches have had an element in common that has been an asset to the program's success. Essie Davis, who is the secretary for the men's basketball team, has been at Temple for each of the last four coaching tenures. Her work behind the scenes and her commitment to the University and the program has been instrumental. Davis has done the work that is not seen by the public eye, but is essential and deeply appreciated by the members of the program. Her daily work has enabled each of the four coaches to maintain focus and have minimal worries outside of their coaching duties. Her assistance with the team has also allowed the basketball program to graduate nearly all of its athletes. All past and present members of the program will likely tell anyone that she has been the backbone to Temple Men's Basketball since her arrival. Every year in the fall, the Temple University Athletic Department elects former athletes, coaches, and other important contributors to the Owls for the Hall of Fame. If you feel Essie Davis should be recognized and honored with all former and future Temple greats in the Hall of Fame, now is the time to get your voice heard. Sign the petition and leave your testimonials. You're strongly encouraged to leave your personal memories of Essie and how she impacted your life and why you think she deserves to be in the Temple University Athletics Hall of Fame.
