Dear Prof. Anthony Forster,

Essex students deserve to graduate and progress on time, with their degrees fully accredited and their work marked by experts in their field so that the quality of their degrees is not in question. We believe that the only way for the marking and assessment boycott to end is for UCEA to reopen negotiations with UCU. We urge you to join Essex UCU in a joint statement publicly calling on UCEA to do this.

Signed: Essex University staff, students and supporters

I have been hearing from so many stressed students lately and the anxiety is just palpable because nobody knows if their graduation is actually happening. I am still emailing and pestering people behind the scenes to see if anyone will budge but it feels like shouting into the void sometimes even though the silence from the top is definitely sending a message of its own.

The disruption to our education has been especially severe. I know the lectures are being held in a difficult place and wish the university would stop this and come to a more realistic solution. This is having a vast impact on the lives of too many people for this to just be over looked and has assisted me in making the decision to not return to complete my degree next year

staff have little power over their lives at work and in not submitting g their marks, they are using one of their few weapons in a struggle for pay and standards. Awful situation where management have a choice to acknowledge the critical role of the tutor
