I have 2 escooters and a hybrid car. I use the escooters more often than the car. My car is a hybrid but it still costs a lot to run. The escooters are cheaper to run, create less traffic and easy to transport anywhere. No extra cost for parking or time wasting looking for one. Should be made legal, its the future.

These kind of transport are what's saving the environment and is making the world a cleaner place. How come bicycles are allowed but these are not, they're no different. Legalize them.

Why keep something illegal that is so easy to regulate and so much better for the environment?

Ireland needs to start being more progressive and accepting of new forms of public transportation given the current constraints being experienced by current public transport infrastructure in our aging cities as growth and expansion opportunities are limited. Alternate forms of electric personal transportation should be facilitated just as bicycles and electric bikes currently are. The 1961 road traffic act is being used inappropriately by the authorities as a catch all and the government needs to commence a programme of public engagement And consultation with relevant stakeholders to review the use more innovative 21st century transportation solutions. Furthermore the government need to prohibit city councils from implementing decisions in respect of prohibiting licenses for escooter initiatives or companies to operate in cities specifically where there is a conflict of interest and protectionist policies that inhibit external competition. The Dublin City Councils Dublin Bikes initiative is an example of such a conflict of interest.
